FLUSHING, N.Y., April 7, 2022 – The New York Mets today announced the club has acquired RHP Adonis Medina from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for cash. Medina was optioned to Syracuse (AAA). In order to make room on the 40-man roster, the Mets designated RHP Yennsy DÃaz for assignment.
Medina, 25, has appeared in five major league games over the last two years with the Philadelphia Phillies, going 0-1 with a 3.86 ERA (five earned runs/11.2 innings). He was claimed off waiver by the Pirates on March 16, 2022.
Adonis Media has been a starter and reliever in his minor league career throwing over 100 innings 3 straight years 2017-2019.
