Seven Run First Inning for Fisher Cats too Much to Overcome for Ponies on Thursday

BINGHAMTON, NY – The Binghamton Rumble Ponies (20-33) gave up seven first inning runs in a 9-5 loss to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (25-28) on Thursday night at Mirabito Stadium.

Four consecutive singles for New Hampshire in the first off Ponies starter Jose Chacin (0-1) plated two runs and the Fisher Cats sent 11 batters to the plate scoring seven runs on seven hits capped off by a Cam Eden two-run homer.

The Ponies fell behind 8-0 but cut the lead to 8-3 in the third as Ronny Mauricio hit a two-run double scoring Matt Winaker and Brett Baty. Wyatt Young then planted a single scoring Mauricio a few batters later. Mauricio increased his team leading RBI total to 35.
