Game Recap: Ponies Fall at Home to Curve on Wednesday Evening

BINGHAMTON, NY – Led by a season high five home runs, the Altoona Curve (17-18, 50-54) defeated the Binghamton Rumble Ponies 11-1 on Wednesday evening at Mirabito Stadium.

Jared Triolo's home run on a 2-0 count to left in the first off Ponies starter Garrison Bryant (1-1) opened the scoring. Aaron Shackelford added his second homer in as many games, a two-run shot, made it a 3-0 Curve lead.

Ex-Met Minor Leaguer Endy Rodriguez hit his first home run at the AA level in the third and a four-run fourth put Altoona ahead 8-0. Connor Scott hit the fourth Altoona home run of the night in the fifth. Scott finished the night 4-5 with two RBI.

Wyatt Young registered the lone Ponies hit of the night with a home run to right field off the batting tunnel in the fourth.

Liover Peguero knocked in the final two runs of the night with a two-run blast to left and Altoona's lead became 11-1.

Curve starter Kyle Nicolas (1-3) pitched six innings giving up just a hit, a run and a walk while striking out five in his first win of the season.

The Ponies will continue their series with the Altoona Curve on Thursday evening. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 PM with pregame coverage beginning at 6:20 PM on NewsRadio 1290 WNBF and 92.1 FM. 

POSTGAME NOTES: Young reached base three times… Grant Hartwig pitched two scoreless frames and still hasn't given up an earned run.
