Game Recap: Ponies Fall to Patriots on Friday Night

 Binghamton, NY – The Binghamton Rumble Ponies (21-32, 49-73) fell to the Somerset Patriots 7-1 on Friday night at Mirabito Stadium as Patriots starter Randy Vásquez (2-6) was able to pitch six and two thirds innings giving up four hits and a run with four strikeouts.

Austin Wells opened the scoring in third with a three-run triple to right off Alex Valverde (2-7) scoring Eric Wagaman, Max Burt and Elijah Dunham put Somerset ahead 3-0. Wells finished the night with four RBI after he tacked on an RBI single in the seventh.

Zach Ashford scored the lone Ponies run of the night with a homer off the right field batting tunnel to make it a 3-1 game in the third. It was Ashford's fifth homerun of the season.

Jesus Bastidas's RBI single put Somerset (31-22, 75-47) ahead 4-1 in the fourth then a three run seventh was highlighted by a Wagaman solo homerun and an RBI double from Brandon Lockridge. Lockridge added his second multi-hit game in as many nights.

The Ponies will continue their series against Somerset. Saturday's game is scheduled for 6:35 PM with pregame coverage beginning at 6:20 PM on the WNBF Rumble Ponies Radio Network.

POSTGAME NOTES: Luke Ritter extended his hit streak to eight games… Michael Krauza pitched two scoreless innings of relief.
