3/12/2023 Roster Moves: Mets place Zach Greene on Waivers (Sources)

 

According to Mets.com Beat Writer Anthony DiComo, the Mets have placed Rule 5 pick Zach Greene on outright waivers. 

Sources: The Mets have placed Rule 5 pick Zach Greene on outright waivers. If Greene clears, the Mets will be obligated to offer him back to the Yankees for $50,000.

Greene allowed 7 ER over 4.2 IP this spring. Buck Showalter had spoken highly of him despite the results.

This is an interesting development coming off recent injuries to Bryce Montes de Oca and Brooks Raley.  It does clear up a spot on the 40 man roster.
