 The Brooklyn Cyclones (10-16) matchup with the Wilmington Blue Rocks (14-14) — the High-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals — on Thursday evening at 6:35 p.m. from Frawley Stadium. 

 

RHP Cameron Foster (0-3, 8.22) is scheduled to take the hill for Brooklyn against Wilmington’s LHP Dustin Saenz (1-1, 2.82)

LAST TIME OUT: Wilmington swept Wednesday’s doubleheader from Brooklyn...The Blue Rocks captured game one, 7-4, and game two, 7-1...C Kevin Parada picked up a pair of hits for the Cyclones in the opener, adding a 3-run double in the 7th...RHP Robert Colina (3.1 IP) and LHP Quinn Brodey (1.0) combined to hurl 4.1 innings of 2-hit shutout relief in the lid-lifter...C Drake Osborn provided Brooklyn’s lone run in the nightcap with a solo home run in the 3rd...CF Alex Ramírez registered a multi-hit game in the finale...CF James Wood clubbed a 3-run home run for the Blue Rocks in their 7-run 2nd inning in the opener...RHP Andry Lara tossed 6.0 shutout innings for the win...LF Jared McKenzie and SS Jordy Barley delivered 2-run triples for Wilmington in the nightcap. 

  

FEELING BULL-ISH: The Cyclones’ bullpen has been dominant over the last 4 games...Dating back to Sunday, Brooklyn relief pitchers have permitted just 2 runs (1 earned) over 21.1 innings (0.42 ERA)...In that span, Cyclones relievers have surrendered just 10 hits, walked 7, and struck out 25...Entering play on Thursday, Brooklyn holds the 3rd-best bullpen ERA (3.66) in the South Atlantic League...Only Rome's (3.44) and Wilmington’s (3.66) relief arms have posted a better earned run average.

ALEX SMACKS: OF Alex Ramírez had his team-season-long 19-game on-base streak snapped in game one on Wednesday, but has reached in 20-of-21 games dating back to April 12...In that span, Ramírez is slashing .305/.380/.378 with a .758 OPS and a 110 wRC+...Alex is 25-for-82 at the dish with 9 runs scored, 4 extra-base hits, 1 home run, 14 RBI, 8 walks, and 4 stolen bases in 5 attempts...Since joining Brooklyn’s roster on July 4 of last year, Ramírez leads the South Atlantic League in RBI (50), hits (91) and doubles (21)...He only trails teammate OF Stanley Consuegra in extra-base hits (28) and is tied with him for the league-lead in total bases (132).

ESTEP UP: INF Chase Estep has broken out of a major slump in a big way...Over a 9-game span between April 12 and May 2, the Corbin, Ky. native was 0-for-32 at the plate with 3 runs scored, an RBI, 3 walks, and 14 strikeouts...Estep ended that stretch with a towering 2-run home run to right field on Friday night...The former 9th-round pick out of Kentucky has reached base safely in each of his last 4 games...Estep is 5-for-his-last-13 (.385) with 4 runs scored, a double, a home run, 2 RBI, and 2 walks.
