3.58) is scheduled make his second start of the year for Brooklyn against the
Yankees’ No. 23 prospect per MLB Pipeline, Hudson Valley’s RHP Brendan Beck (0-0, 0.00).

LAST TIME OUT: Brooklyn earned its 9th win in
11 games in a 7-4 victory at Hudson Valley on Tuesday night...Cyclones took a
4-1 lead in the 2nd inning thanks to a pair of 2-run home runs by 1B Mateo
Gil and LF Rhylan Thomas...Brooklyn tallied 3 more in the 4th on RBI
doubles by SS César Berbesi and C Kevin Parada, plus a stolen
base and throwing error...Parada picked up a pair of doubles on the night,
while Gil tallied a double in addition to the long ball...Thomas accrued a
multi-hit performance, as well...RHP Cameron Foster hurled a career-high
7.0 innings, striking out 7, earning his 4th win...LHP Eli Ankeney struck
out 3 in the 8th and RHP Paul Gervase pitched a perfect 9th for his 4th
save...CF Spencer Jones collected 2 hits and a solo home run for Hudson
Valley.
THE .500 CLUB: With Brooklyn’s victory on
Tuesday night, the Cyclones returned to .500 on the season at 42-42...It was
the second time since Saturday the ‘Clones were at the .500 mark since they
were 2-2 following a 5-3 defeat at Winston-Salem on April 11...Brooklyn has not
been over .500 since the 3rd game of the season...The Cyclones moved to 2-1
with a 4-2 win vs. Jersey Shore to close out the season-opening homestand on
April 9.
WE’RE GOING STREAKING: Brooklyn’s
season-high 5-game winning streak came to a close on July 8 at
Wilmington...Alas, the team has won 8-of-10 and 14-of-19 going into Tuesday’s
contest...The Cyclones are 13-5 in the second half and lead the North Division
of the SAL by 1.5 games over Aberdeen (11-6)...Brooklyn is 1.5 games behind
Hickory (14-3) for the best record in the circuit during the half...The 5-game
streak was the longest for the ‘Clones since they won 6-straight from September
3-9, 2022, vs. Wilmington and at Winston-Salem.
SUPER STAFF: Since the start of a 4-game
winning streak at Hudson Valley on May 17, the Cyclones’ pitching staff has,
statistically, been the most dominant in Minor League Baseball...Entering
Wednesday, Brooklyn has posted a MiLB-low 2.71 ERA (139 ER in 462.0 IP) over
their last 53 games, holding a 31-22 record in that span...The Yankees’ High-A
Hudson Valley (3.06) is 2nd in the minors...The Cyclones have hurled 6 shutouts
in that span and hold a strikeout rate of 28.4% and a walk rate of 11.3%...Additionally,
Brooklyn pitching has permitted 4 fewer home runs (16) than any other squad and
holds the lowest opposing OPS (.595), in addition to the 3rd lowest hits-per-9 innings

throughout Minor League Baseball...The Rangers’ Single-A Down East (3.09) is
2nd in MiLB, while Hudson Valley (3.42) is 2nd in the circuit...The Cyclones
are also 3rd in MiLB in hits-per-9 innings (6.80) and 6th in opposing OPS
(.640).
BANANA’S FOR FOSTER: RHP Cameron Foster has
found his groove on the bump over the last few weeks...Since the start of June,
the 24-year-old holds a 2-0 record with a 2.51 ERA (8 ER in 28.2 IP) with 10
walks and 31 strikeouts over 6 starts...Foster’s strikeout rate is up 3.6% from
his overall numbers (26.5% from 22.9%) and his walk rate is down 1.5% (8.5%
from 10.0%)...Since his start on June 6, the right-hander is 7th in the South
Atlantic League in ERA (2.51) and 10th in opposing OPS (.601) (min 25.0
IP).
ACE GERVASE: RHP Paul Gervase has
been as dominant as any relief pitcher in Minor League Baseball in
2023...Through 23 relief appearances, the 23-year-old is 1st and 3rd in ERA (1.23)
among SAL and MiLB relievers, respectively (min. 35.0 IP)....The 2022
12th-round pick is 2nd in MiLB in opposing batting average (.130) and 7th in
opposing OPS (.514) and strikeouts-per-9 innings (13.99)...Since June 6,
Gervase holds a 0.60 ERA (1 ER in 15.0 IP) with a hold and 3 saves over 10
relief outings...In MiLB, the former Louisiana State arm is tied for 2nd among
MiLB relievers (min 15.0 IP) in hits allowed (2), 3rd in opposing batting
average (.100) and strikeouts-per-9 innings (16.20), 7th in ERA (0.60) and
opposing OPS (.382), tied for 10th in strikeouts (27)...He holds a strikeout
rate of 44.3% in that time.
PARADA POWER: C Kevin Parada registered
his 2nd multi-home run game of the season on Saturday, tallying solo shots in
the 1st and 5th innings...The Pasadena, Calif. native also accrued multiple blasts
on June 23 vs. Hudson Valley...Kevin poked a solo home run in the 3rd and a
2-run inside-the-parker in the 6th...Since 2005, Parada is 1 of 2 Cyclones to
record a pair multi-homer games in the same season...INF Nick Evans powered
a pair of jacks on July 22, 2005, vs. Jamestown and again on August 24, 2005,
at Williamsport...Dating back to June 6 vs. Greenville, the 21-year-old is
slashing .319/.388/.595 with a .983 OPS and 162 wRC+ in 30 games...Parada has
accrued 18 runs scored, 5 doubles, 3 triples, 7 home runs, 20 RBI, 10 walks,
and 2 hit-by-pitches...The former Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket enters Wednesday
ranked 5th in the South Atlantic League in extra-base hits (33), total bases
(136), and hits (79), and doubles (19), and
10th in OPS (.828)...Since June 6, Parada is tied for 1st in triples (3), 2nd
in total bases (69), 4th in slugging (.595), tied for 4th in hits (37) and

LUGO LAND: INF William Lugo has
been scalding hot with the bat over the last few weeks...Since June 22 vs.
Hudson Valley, the 21-year-old is slashing .339/.417/.645 with a 1.062 OPS and
a 180 wRC+...In 17 games, Lugo is hitting .339 (21-62) with 9 runs scored, 5
doubles, a triple, 4 home runs, 15 RBI, and 8 walks (11.1 BB%) to only 10
strikeouts (13.9 K%)...In that time, the right-handed swinger has raised his
batting average by 44 points (.181 to .225)...Among SAL players with 70 or more
plate appearances, Lugo is 4th in slugging percentage (.645) and OPS (1.062),
6th in RBI (15), tied for 6th in total bases (40), 7th in batting average
(.339)in that time frame...Lugo has also reached base safely in all 11 games
played during the month of July.
