BOX SCORE

BROOKLYN, N.Y. (July 3, 2023) - Playing as the Coney Island Franks for one night only, the Brooklyn Cyclones defeated the Jersey Shore BlueClaws, 8-1, on Monday night at Maimonides Park. The win marks Brooklyn’s seventh of the 12-game home stand, during which the Cyclones went 7-5. Brooklyn split the six game set with Jersey Shore, after they took four of six from Hudson Valley last week.

RHP Cameron Foster was stupendous in his twelfth start of the year, logging five scoreless innings and allowing only two hits. With the win, Foster improves to 3-4 on the season.

The ‘Clones struck first courtesy of a four run bottom of the third. After the ‘Clones loaded the bases with nobody out, 3B William Lugo clobbered a bases clearing triple. The triple marked Lugo’s second extra-base hit in as many days. The very next batter, RF Stanley Consuegra brought Lugo home on a sacrifice fly to push the Brooklyn lead to 4-0.

The Cyclones bats picked up right where they left off in the fourth. After back-to-back walks began the frame, CF Alex Ramírez crushed an RBI double to center field to put Brooklyn up by five. The very next batter, DH Kevin Parada, cleared the bases on a two-run triple to extend the Brooklyn lead to 7-0.

It took Jersey Shore until the seventh frame to get one back. 3B Nick Ward singled, scoring RF Gabriel Rincones Jr. That would be the only time the BlueClaws crossed home all night.

Brooklyn got the one run back in the eighth. With Ramírez on third base, RHP Cam Wynne issued a wild pitch, prompting Ramírez to take home and give Brooklyn a 8-1 lead, which would be the final.

The Cyclones return to action tomorrow for the first of a six game set on the road against the Wilmington Blue Rocks. RHP Jeffrey Colon (1-4, 6.10 ERA) is the probable pitcher for the Cyclones, while Wilmington has yet to name a probable starter.
