The Brooklyn Cyclones (18-15) begin the second leg of their two-week road trip against the Bowling Green Hot Rods (17-16) — the High-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays — on Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. ET from Bowling Green Ballpark in Bowling Green, Ky.

RHP Jonah Tong (0-0, 1.00) — the New York Mets’ No. 22 prospect per Baseball America — is expected to make his third South Atlantic League start for the Cyclones. The Hot Rods are projected to counter with RHP Roel Garcia III (1-1, 4.62).

LAST TIME OUT: The Cyclones settled for a series split in an 8-2 defeat at Rome on Sunday afternoon...CF Nick Morabito picked up his first multi-hit game with the Cyclones, garnering three hits, including a double and a run scored...Brooklyn scored both its runs in the top of the fourth on an RBI single from 1B Nick Lorusso and a double by SS William Lugo...SS E.J. Exposito hit his South Atlantic League-leading eighth home run of the year for Rome.


BINGO BOUND: The Cyclones announced on Monday that 1B/OF Ryan Clifford and RHP Brandon Sproat were transferred to Double-A Binghamton...In 31 games for Brooklyn in 2024, Clifford hit .216/.412/.304 with a .716 OPS, adding a home run and 10 RBI...At the time of his promotion, the 20-year-old led the South Atlantic League in walks (32) and was tied for fifth in on-base percentage (.412)...Clifford's 32 walks were also tied for the most in Minor League Baseball...Sproat made six appearances (five starts) on the bump, collecting a 2-1 record with a 1.07 ERA (3 ER in 25.1 IP), 16 walks, and 33 strikeouts...Among SAL pitchers with 25.0+ innings pitched, the 23-year-old was fourth in ERA (1.07) and batting average against (.141), fifth in strikeouts-per-nine innings (11.72), and seventh in strikeout rate (32.4%).


NEW TO THE STABLE: Brooklyn added two arms to their bullpen on Monday with RHPs Jimmy Loper and Jawilme Ramírez joining the squad from Single-A St. Lucie...Loper, a 16th-round pick of the New York Mets in 2022 out of Duke University, was 0-1 with a 2.57 ERA (4 ER in 14.0 IP), two walks, and 19 strikeouts in seven relief outings for St. Lucie...Among Florida State League relievers with 14.0+ innings pitched, the 24-year-old was second in strikeout-to-walk rate (9.50), tied for second in fewest walks allowed (2), and tied for seventh in WHIP (1.00)...Loper did not allow a run in his final 7.2 innings in the FSL...Ramírez held a 1-1 mark and a 2.81 ERA (5 ER in 16.0 IP) with 10 walks and 16 strikeouts in eight relief outings...Among FSL relievers with 16.0+ frames, he was sixth in batting average against (.182) and opposing OPS (.573)...The 22-year-old finished the 2023 season in Brooklyn's rotation, going 1-1 with a 5.52 ERA (18 ER in 29.1 IP), 10 walks, and 15 punch-outs in six starts.
