7/17/2024: Mets Roster Moves - claim LHP Alex Young off waivers, send to Syracuse, DFA Tyler Jay

The New York Mets have announced the following roster moves on X/Twitter:

LHP Alex Young claimed off waivers from San Francisco and optioned to Triple-A Syracuse. 

LHP Tyler Jay has been designated for assignment.

According to FanGraphs, 30 year old Alex Young has 1 MiLB option remaining.  

In 2024, Alex Young pitched 3 games, 2 innings, for the Cincinnati Reds without giving up a run. He has also spent time in AAA for the San Francisco Giants and Reds with a 2.19 ERA in 24.2 Games.  

In 2023, he appeared in 63 games for the Reds going 4-2 with a 3.86 ERA.
