Per the Transactions tab on the Syracuse Mets Roster Page, Shintaro Fujinami has elected Free Agency.
The Mets signed Fujinami to a one year contract on February 14, 2024. He pitched 9 games for Syracuse before going on the IL in May. He returned to rehab in the lower minors before rejoining Syracuse in July. While Fujinami's fastball clocked as high as 99 MPH, walks were his Achilles' heel. In 32.1 Syracuse innings, he allowed 33 walks while striking out 38.
