The New York Mets via X have announced that they have signed LHP Genesis Cabrera to a Minor League Deal with an invitation to Spring Training.
Turning 28 this October, Genesis was 3 and 3 last year for Toronto with a 3.59 ERA, 69 games, 62.2 innings, 63 hits, 29 walks, 50 Ks, 1.468 WHIP. According to FanGraphs, the 6 year major league vet not have any minor league options left.
According to Baseball Savant, he throws 5 different pitches : Cutter, Sinker, 4-Seam Fastball, Curve and Change. He touches 96 MPH with the Cutter and 4-Seam Fastball.
As MLB Trade Rumors pointed out: "At the moment, the only left-handed reliever on the Mets’ 40-man roster is Danny Young, so there’s certainly room to add some depth and possibly some additional certainty in that regard as the offseason progresses."
