World Class Bobblehead Collection to be Featured in New Museum Exhibit Getting the Nod -- Jeffrey Loria Collection to Debut Memorial Day Weekend in Cooperstown along with New Hall of Fame Film Series -- (COOPERSTOWN, NY) – The beloved bobblehead, a part of baseball's landscape since the 1960s, will take its place in Cooperstown over Memorial Day Weekend as the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum unveils the new exhibit Getting the Nod. Featuring highlights from the renowned collection of some 750 bobblehead dolls donated by Jeffrey H. Loria, former owner of the Miami Marlins, Getting the Nod will open on Saturday, May 24, and be located on the Museum's third floor. Loria donated his collection to the Museum, which will have a permanent home in Cooperstown. The exhibit opening will be a part of a celebration of the National Pastime during Memorial Day Weekend that will also include the debut of the new Hall of Fame Film Series, featuring the screening of several baseball-themed movies. Film lineups will be announced later this spring and will be paired with question-and-answer sessions featuring Hall of Famers and additional special guests. "We are thrilled to be able to exhibit the incredible bobblehead collection that Jeffrey Loria generously donated to the Hall of Fame in the Museum's new Getting the Nod exhibit," said Josh Rawitch, President of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. "The exhibit is sure to become a favorite of Museum visitors of all ages as we tell the story of one of the game's timeless souvenirs." Loria's diverse collection of bobbleheads includes such players as Babe Ruth, Ted Williams, Satchel Paige, Ken Griffey, Jr., Clayton Kershaw and Giancarlo Stanton, and hundreds of bobbleheads will be on exhibit in Getting the Nod. "After assembling this spectacular collection of bobbleheads, over a number of years, the time finally came to house it all at the Hall of Fame," Loria said. "The more than 750 bobbleheads are a cross-section of some of baseball's illustrious stars and characters of the game. They always made me happy and I hope that the fans who get to see this collection will enjoy them as well. They are certainly part of the American sports landscape." Memorial Day Weekend in Cooperstown will also feature the Hall of Fame's popular Night at the Museum program. Hall of Fame legends and former players will greet fans throughout the Museum on the evening of Saturday, May 24, with Hall of Famers participating alongside other former major league stars. While the Night at the Museum program is not an autograph session, fans should remember to bring their camera to capture their special memories. Tickets for Night at the Museum are on sale now for participants in the Museum's Membership program, with any remaining tickets available to the general public starting March 18. Also as part of the weekend, guests can golf with legends at historic Leatherstocking Golf Course on Otsego Lake. Participants will enjoy an unforgettable day of golf. Individuals, pairs or foursomes of all skill levels are welcome to join the Hall of Fame Memorial Day Weekend Golf Tournament. A Hall of Fame member or former major leaguer will join each foursome and serve as the team captain. A fundraiser for the Museum, the scramble-format tournament highlights a full lineup of activities for participants during this unforgettable weekend.
