After the Mets pieced together their pitching to carry a lead into the seventh inning — including call-up Brandon Waddell contributing 4 1⁄3 scoreless innings — Stanek blew the late lead for a third time in three appearances across six days. Geraldo Perdomo’s pinch-hit, two-out, two-run single off Stanek in the seventh accounted for Arizona’s first runs of the game."
NY Post: "Trailing by three runs after the Diamondbacks added two more runs to their lead in the top of the ninth, Tyrone Taylor led off the bottom of the inning against Justin Martinez with his first homer of the season. Francisco Lindor and Juan Soto walked to bring up Pete Alonso, who was drilled on a 2-2 pitch by side-armer Ryan Thompson to load the bases for Mark Vientos, who’d homered in the third. This time, Vientos struck out. Jesse Winker…seemingly fouled a ball off his foot, but the ball went to first and it was ruled a run-scoring groundout. With runners on second and third, Jeff McNeil got the count to 3-1 before he was walked intentionally. And Alvarez grounded out to end it."

This was loss #17 in the Anthony Young 27 game loss streak, but like a lot of them, he didn't pitch that bad. Mets led 5 to 3 in the 7th when the Padres rallied for 3 in the bottom of the seventh pf Mets Pitchers Mike Draper and Mike Maddux - two of the runs scoring on a Tony Fernandez throwing error. A Jeff Kent RBI single in the 8th tied it but in the bottom of the 8th, Anthony Young gave up an RBI single to Tony Gwynn. Mets didn't score in the 9th. Anthony Young fell to 0-3 on the year and after losing the last 14 of 1992 - it made the losing streak 17.

Ron Swoboda singled Ron Hunt to give the Mets a 1-0 lead. Reds Starter John Tsitouris (W,2-1) only allowed 2 more hits the rest of the way en route to a complete game win. After 4 scoreless innings, Warren Spahn (L,2-1) allowed the tying run in the 4th with the help of an Ed Kranepool error and three Reds homers in the 5th for the loss.
