From the Marlins 5 Mets 0 Post Game Notes - 4/9/2025:
- Mets:
- The Mets lost the final game of their six-game homestand, 5-0, vs. the Marlins to end a six-game winning streak...It was the first time they were shutout this season...The Amazins’ completed a 10-day stretch where they played Miami six times, going 4-2 in those games...Are 5-1 at home to start the season.
- Mets pitchers have also collected 118 strikeouts this season,, the sixth-most strikeouts through the team’s first 12 games in a season (125K in 2019, 124K in 2022, 123K in 2018, 119K, 2017, 119K, 2021).
- Mets pitchers combined for 12 strikeouts...Their seven double-digit strikeout games are the fourth-most such games in the majors.
- Were held to a season-low two hits...Were held to two or fewer hits in five games last season (last: 9/28 at MIL).
- Allowed a season-high-tying five runs for the third time...Are the only team in the majors to not allow more than five runs in a game this season...Is the second-longest such streak in team history to being a season (most: 20 games, 1978).
- Tylor Megill: Did not allow an earned run over 4.0 innings pitched...Has not allowed a home run to 66 batters faced this season…In three combined starts this season, he has gone 2-1 with a 0.63 ERA (1 ER/14.1 IP), seven walks and 17 strikeouts.
- Max Kranick: Pitched 2.0 innings and only surrendered one hit...Extended his career-high scoreless inning streak to 14.0 IP (since: 5/7/22 at CIN with PIT), including 9.0 innings pitched this season...He has held opponents to a .068 on-base percentage (2-29, 0 BB) which is the second best in the NL and seventh best in the majors for a reliever…Has not issued a walk to any of his 29 batters faced...Is one of five pitchers in the majors this season to not issue a walk and face at least 25 batters...Is the only relief pitcher of those five.
- Francisco Lindor: His single in the sixth inning broke up a no-hit bid from Max Meyer...Extended his hitting streak to eight games (since 4/1), batting .333 (10-30) in that span.
Mike Puma NY Post: Mets bats go ice cold again at chillyCiti Field in shutout loss to Marlins. “Except for one breakout game, the homestand was largely an icicle-inducing exercise for Mets batters. That point was underscored on Wednesday, when the Mets went hitless into the sixth inning and then managed only two harmless singles in a 5-0 loss to the Marlins at chilly Citi Field to end a six-game winning streak.”
Brian Joura Mets360: "Despite the lack of offense, it was a close game thru the first eight innings. The Marlins had a 2-0 lead, with both runs being unearned…with a day off tomorrow, Edwin Diaz was brought in to pitch the ninth. And Diaz was not good, giving up three runs, including a two-run homer, and he had to be bailed out by Danny Young."
NY Post: Tylor Megill won’t blame cold for start that put spotlight on his Mets issues. “…the start
itself reminded of the type of pitcher Megill has often been in his Mets
career: difficult to hit and sometimes difficult to carry on a roster for a
lengthy amount of time. Megill was wild and nasty, in that order, through a
strange 5-0 loss to the Marlins in which his first eight
pitches were balls."
NY Post: Edwin Diaz blames frigid temps for ninth inningcollapse during Mets’ loss: ‘Couldn’t throw strikes’. “The Mets closer chalked up his control
problems in Wednesday’s ninth inning to the slickness of the baseball on a
44-degree day at Citi Field.”
Mets Calendar Classics: April 10 "The Mets have played 43 games on April 10th in their history for a 19-24 record. This includes some interesting extra inning games, a wasted Jake gem, and Tommie Agee’s historic HR in 1969."
