The Brooklyn Cyclones (19-11) continue their six-game set against the Asheville Tourists (14-17) — the High-A affiliate of the Houston Astros — on Saturday evening at 6:05 p.m. from McCormick Field in Asheville, N.C.

 

RHP Noah Hall (2-2, 1.88) — a Charlotte, N.C. native — is expected to make the start for the Cyclones. The Tourists are projected to counter with RHP Brett Gillis (1-1, 4.11).

LAST TIME OUT: The Cyclones captured Friday's regularly scheduled contest, 8-5, over Asheville, but dropped Thursday's suspended ballgame in walk-off fashion, 6-5...Thursday's game resumed with LF Carson Benge at 1st, 1 out, and an 0-1 count on SS Jesús Báez in the top of the 9th...After the Cyclones failed to score, C Will Bush delivered a game-ending RBI single for the Tourists in the bottom half...In Friday's scheduled game, the Cyclones clubbed 4 home runs in the 2nd inning, setting a single-inning franchise record...RF Eli Serrano III, DH A.J. Ewing, and CF Carson Benge hit back-to-back-to-back home runs before Báez added a fourth solo shot two batters later...Benge drove in 4 runs during the contest, while Serrano, Ewing, Benge, Báez, and 3B Boston Baro accrued multi-hit games...RHP Dakota Hawkins, LHP Ryan Ammons, RHP Ben Simon, and RHP Saúl García combined to toss 4.1 innings of 3-hit shutout relief to secure the Cyclones' victory.

 

HOMER HAPPY: Brooklyn's offense erupted in the 2nd inning on Friday...RF Eli Serrano III, DH A.J. Ewing, and CF Carson Benge clubbed back-to-back-to-back home runs with 1 out in the frame off Asheville's RHP Yeriel Santos...It marked just the 2nd time Brooklyn had hit 3-straight home runs in Minor League Baseball's Digital Era (2005-present)...2B Luke Ritter, 1B Joe Genord, and C José Mena first accomplished the feat with back-to-back-to-back shots in the 6th inning on June 20, 2021, at Wilmington...SS Jesús Báez added a 4th home run in the frame, marking the first time in MiLB's Digital Era that the Cyclones powered 4 long balls in a single inning...The feat has been accomplished just 2 other times in MiLB this season...Miami's Double-A Pensacola accomplished the feat with 4 homers in the 3rd inning on April 26 vs. Knoxville...Chicago-NL's Triple-A Iowa blasted 5 home runs in the 7th inning on April 16 vs. St. Paul...Brooklyn enters Saturday ranked 2nd in the South Atlantic League in home runs (29)...The 29 homers are the 3rd most for Brooklyn through 30 games in MiLB's Digital Era...The Cyclones smashed 33 in 2021 and 31 in 2010.

 

EW CAN'T STOP HIM: IF/OF A.J. Ewing has had a marvelous start to his 2025 season...Entering play on Saturday, the 20-year-old is tied for 2nd in Minor League Baseball in triples (5), 6th in batting average (.369), tied for 6th in stolen bases (21), and 10th in OPS (1.046)...Ewing has reached base safely in all 9 games he's played with the Cyclones and has reached in 16-straight games since April 18 vs. Tampa with Single-A St. Lucie...In that time, Ewing is hitting .339/.446/.532/.978 with 12 runs scored, 3 doubles, 3 triples, a home run, 10 runs batted in, 12 walks, and 14 stolen bases.
