The Brooklyn Cyclones (20-11) look to secure a series victory against the Asheville Tourists (14-17) — the High-A affiliate of the Houston Astros — on Sunday afternoon at 1:05 p.m. from McCormick Field in Asheville, N.C. 

 

RHP Joel Díaz (1-0, 0.72) — the South Atlantic League leader in ERA — is expected to make his second start of the week for the Cyclones. The Tourists are projected to counter with RHP Alain Peña (1-4, 8.02), who is doing the same.

LAST TIME OUT: Brooklyn earned at least a series split with Asheville, snagging a 6-1 victory on Saturday night...Charlotte, N.C. native RHP Noah Hall tossed a career-high 5.2 innings of 2-hit, 1-run ball, earning his 3rd win pitching in front of friends and family...RHPs Jace Beck (1.1 IP), Dylan Ross (1.0), and Chandler Marsh (1.0) combined to toss 3.1 innings of perfect relief, retiring all 10 batters, striking out 6...1B Jacob Reimer collected a pair of RBI doubles in the 7th and 9th innings, respectively...CF Eli Serrano III registered 2 hits, including a double...C Ronald Hernandez drove in a pair with a single in the 4th and on an error in the 6th...DH Kenni Gómez provided the Tourists only 2 hits in the game, with a solo home run in the 4th and a double in the 6th. 

 

HALL PASS: After an injury-shortened 2024, RHP Noah Hall has returned to form in 2025...Over his first 7 starts, the Charlotte, N.C. native is 3-2 with a 1.83 ERA (7 ER in 34.1 IP), 37 strikeouts and only 22 hits allowed...Entering Sunday, Hall is 4th in the South Atlantic League in innings pitched (34.1), 5th in ERA (1.83), tied for 6th in double plays induced (3), 7th in batting average against (.182), and tied for 9th in strikeouts (37)...Hall's 56.0% groundball rate is also tops in the circuit...His 48.0% infield fly ball rate is 2nd...The University of South Carolina product became not only the 1st player in franchise history to start on consecutive Opening Days, but the 1st player in franchise history to start multiple Opening Days.

 

DÍAZ DELIVERS: Another year removed from Tommy John surgery, RHP Joel Díaz has returned to form in 2025...The 21-year-old's scoreless inning streak to start the year ended at 17.1 IP after allowing a run against Wilmington on April 30...The righty sports a 0.72 ERA (2 ER in 25.0 IP), which is the lowest in the South Atlantic League over Rome's RHP JR Ritchie (1.37)...Díaz also paces the circuit in WHIP (0.68) and is tied for 4th in batting average against (.169)...Entering Sunday, the San Cristóbal, D.R. native leads the SAL in walk rate (2.2%) and FIP (1.80)...Díaz is also 2nd in swinging strike percentage (17.5%), 3rd in strikeout-to-walk-rate (30.4%), and 4th in strikeout rate (32.6%).
