Here are the Brooklyn Cyclone Game Notes for today's game.

The Brooklyn Cyclones (30-15) return home to begin a six-game homestand against the Aberdeen IronBirds (19-26) — the High-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles — on Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. from Maimonides Park on Coney Island in Brooklyn, N.Y.

 

RHP Brendan Girton (2-1, 3.81) is scheduled to start the lid-lifter for the Cyclones. The IronBirds are projected to counter with LHP Juan Rojas (0-3, 3.00).

 

Live coverage on the Cyclones Radio Network, Bally Sports Live, and MiLB.tv will begin at 5:45 p.m.

 

LAST TIME OUT: Brooklyn split Sunday's doubleheader at Jersey Shore...The Cyclones captured the opener, 6-4, before dropping the finale, 6-4...In the lid-lifter, Brooklyn took the lead for good with a 4-run 4th inning...CF Carson Benge reached base 4 times with 2 singles and 2 walks...1B Jacob Reimer drove in a pair with a single and a walk...3B Jesús Báez tallied 2 hits and drove in 3...In the nightcap, Jersey Shore jumped out to a 4-0 lead...Brooklyn trimmed a 4-run deficit to 1, but no closer...SS Boston Baro posted a triple and a 2-run home run...RF Troy Schreffler Jr. added 2 hits, including a triple and an RBI single.

 

ALL BÁEZ ON ME: After recovering from knee surgery, INF Jesús Báez has slowly returned to form...The 20-year-old reached base safely in 17-of-23 plate appearances in the series against Jersey Shore and went 6-for-8 at the plate in Friday's doubleheader with 3 runs scored, a double, 2 home runs, and 7 RBI, en route to winning South Atlantic League Player of the Week honors...During the week, Báez hit .647 (11-17) with 6 runs scored, 2 home runs, and 10 RBI...The infielder led the circuit in batting average (.647), on-base percentage (.739), slugging percentage (1.059) OPS (1.798), and was tied for the league lead in RBI (10)...After OF A.J. Ewing won Player of the Week last week, it is the first time Brooklyn hitters have won a league's Player of the Week award in consecutive weeks in franchise history...Báez also was recognized on MiLB.com's "Prospect Team of the Week" for his efforts...The Santo Domingo, D.R. native has reached safely in 18-straight games since May 3 vs. Wilmington, hitting .393/.500/.590/1.090 with 13 runs scored, 3 doubles, 3 home runs, 18 RBI, 3 stolen bases, and 12 walks to 7 strikeouts...Báez also enters Tuesday with a 10-game hitting streak since May 15 vs. Winston-Salem, going 16-for-30 (.533) at the plate with 9 runs scored, a double, 2 home runs, 12 RBI and 7 walks to 1 strikeout...Last Tuesday, the infielder tied a Cyclones' single-game franchise record, working 4 walks at Jersey Shore...The feat has been accomplished 11 times, most recently by LF Ryan Clifford on April 21, 2024, at Jersey Shore...During May, Báez leads the South Atlantic League in RBI (21) and is 3rd in batting average (.377), on-base percentage (.482), OPS (1.076), and hits (26), 5th in slugging percentage (.594), and tied for 7th in total bases (41).

 

BENGE IT LIKE CARSON: OF Carson Benge has been heating up at the plate over the last few weeks...The Yukon, Okla. native was recognized on MiLB.com's "Prospect Team of the Week" after hitting .412 (7-17) with 8 runs scored, 3 doubles, 2 triples, an RBI, 8 walks to 3 strikeouts, 2 stolen bases, and 2 hit-by-pitches in 6 games at Jersey Shore...The 2024 first-round pick enters Tuesday tied for the South Atlantic League lead in triples (4)...He is also 2nd in OPS (.991), tied for 2nd in runs scored (35) and doubles (11), 3rd in slugging percentage (.543) and on-base percentage (.448), 4th in extra-base hits (19), 5th in walks (31), tied for 5th in total bases (76), and 6th in hits (45)...The 22-year-old is riding had an 11-game hitting streak since May 8 at Asheville snapped last Friday, but has reached base safely in 18-straight games since May 3 vs. Wilmington, hitting .361/.518/.705/1.223 with 19 runs scored, 6 doubles, 3 triples, 3 home runs, 17 RBI, 19 walks to 13 strikeouts, and 7 stolen bases.
