The Brooklyn Cyclones (17-9) hit the road to open up a six-game series against the Asheville Tourists (12-15) — the High-A affiliate of the Houston Astros — on Tuesday at 6:35 p.m. from McCormick Field in Asheville, N.C.
RHP Joel DÃaz (1-0, 0.44) — the South Atlantic League leader in ERA (0.44) — is expected to make the start for the Cyclones. The Tourists are projected to counter with RHP Alain Peña (1-3, 8.83).

LAST TIME OUT: Brooklyn captured a series victory with a 7-1 win vs. Wilmington on Sunday afternoon...LF Jefrey De Los Santos posted his best game of the season for Brooklyn, collecting 4 RBI with a 2-run home run to right in the 4th and adding a 2-run single to center in the 6th...DH Jacob Reimer recorded another multi-hit game, tallying a double and an RBI in the 1st...RHP Noah Hall tossed a career-high-tying 5.0 innings of 2-hit shutout ball, striking out 6, to earn his 2nd win of the year...RHPs Dylan Ross (0.2 IP), Eduardo Herrera (1.1), Jace Beck (1.0), and Brian Metoyer (1.0) combined to allow 1 unearned run on 2 hits over 4.0 frames in relief, sealing the victory.
WE THE BEST: The Cyclones swept the South Atlantic League Player and Pitcher of the Month awards that were handed out on Monday...INF Jacob Reimer was recognized as the SAL Player of the Month, and LHP Zach Thornton, now at Double-A Binghamton, was named as the SAL Pitcher of the Month...In 21 games during April, Reimer hit .318/.383/.659/1.042 with 18 runs scored, 8 doubles, 3 triples, 5 home runs, 21 RBI, 9 walks, and a stolen base...The 21-year-old paced the SAL in doubles (8), extra-base hits (16), triples (3), slugging percentage (.659), and total bases (56)...Reimer also was 2nd in OPS (1.042), tied for 2nd in RBI (21) and hits (27), 4th in batting average (.318), tied for 4th in home runs (5), tied for 6th in runs scored (18)...The Yucaipa, Calif. native was also 5th in Minor League Baseball in slugging percentage (.659), tied for 5th in extra-base hits (16), and tied for 8th in total bases (56)...Thornton accrued a perfect 3-0 record with a 0.44 ERA (1 ER in 20.2 IP), 12 hits, 2 walks, and 25 strikeouts in 4 starts...Among SAL arms with 20.0-plus innings pitched in April, Thornton led the league in strikeout-to-walk ratio (12.50) and was tied with teammate RHP Joel DÃaz for the league lead in ERA (0.44) and WHIP (0.68)...He also tied for first in wins (3) and sat 3rd in batting average against (.162)...Additionally, IF/OF A.J. Ewing took home Florida State League Player of the Month honors in April...With Single-A St. Lucie, the 20-year-old hit .400/.506/.615/1.121 with 15 runs scored, 3 doubles, 4 triples, a home run, 20 RBI, and 14 swiped bags...Ewing paced the FSL in steals (14), batting average (.400), and OPS (1.121), and was tied for first in triples (4)...The Springboro, Ohio, native also ranked 2nd in on-base percentage (.506) and RBI (20), 3rd in slugging percentage (.615) and hits (26), and tied for 5th in total bases (40)...In April, Ewing was tied for 2nd in MiLB in triples (4), tied for 5th in steals (16), 6th in batting average (.378), 8th in OPS (1.052), and 10th in on-base percentage (.484)...Thornton is Brooklyn's first Pitcher of the Month honoree since RHP Dom Hamel was named SAL Pitcher of the Month in September 2022...Reimer is the first Cyclone to win Player of the Month since moving to the High-A level in 2021 and the first to win at any level since at least 2016.
WEEKLY HONORS: INF Jacob Reimer earned New York Mets' Minor League Player of the Week for the 2nd time this season on Monday...Last week vs. Wilmington, the 21-year-old went 10-for-25 (.400) at the plate with 7 runs scored, 2 doubles, 3 home runs, 7 RBI, 3 walks, and a stolen base...Last Wednesday, Reimer became the first Cyclone since 2005 to register a 3-home run game...The Yucaipa, Calif. native was the first to do it since Caleb Stewart on July 29, 2005, at Hudson Valley...Reimer was the first to do it at home since Noel Devarez on July 1, 2001, vs. New Jersey...On the season, he leads the Mets’ farm system in hits (33), extra-base hits (18), total bases (64), and runs scored (22), in addition to being tied for first in RBI (23).
ROCKIN' RONNY: C/1B Ronald Hernández has been an integral piece of the puzzle for the Cyclones all season...The switch-hitter enters Tuesday on an 8-game on-base streak dating back to April 23 at Jersey Shore...During the stretch, Hernández is hitting .464 (13-28) with 9 runs scored, 2 home runs, 6 RBI, 3 walks, and 4 stolen bases...During the streak, the 21-year-old has raised his batting average by 140 points from .125 to .265...Hernández has already swiped a career-high-tying 8 bags in 2025, matching his career-best from 2024 in 88 fewer games (108 to 20)...The Venezuela native was named to MiLB.com's "Prospect Team of the Week" on Monday after an 8-for-18 (.444) week at the plate with 4 runs scored, 2 home runs, 5 RBI, 2 walks, and 2 steals...Last Wednesday, Hernández and INF Jacob Reimer (3) became the first pair of Brooklyn teammates to hit multiple home runs in the same game since INFs Edgardo FermÃn and Ronny Mauricio each powered a pair on July 21, 2021, at Jersey Shore.
EW CAN'T STOP HIM: IF/OF A.J. Ewing has had a marvelous start to his 2025 season...Entering play on Tuesday, the 20-year-old is tied for 2nd in Minor League Baseball in triples (4), 6th in batting average (.365), and tied for 8th in stolen bases (16)...Ewing has reached base safely in all 5 games he's played with the Cyclones and has reached in 12-straight games since April 18 vs. Tampa with Single-A St. Lucie...In that time, Ewing is hitting .318/.455/.432/.887 with 7 runs scored, a double, 2 triples, 9 runs batted in, 11 walks, and 9 stolen bases.
MARCO POLO: IF Marco Vargas has not stopped hitting since joining the Cyclones at the start of last week...The 19-year-old has reached safely in all 5 games played with Brooklyn and in all 18 contests he has appeared in this year between the Cyclones and Single-A St. Lucie...During the 18-game on-base streak, Vargas is hitting .338/.443/.462/.905 with 16 runs scored, 3 doubles, a triple, a home run, 11 RBI, 12 walks, and 4 stolen bases...He has also accrued at least 1 RBI in 4 of 5 games played with Brooklyn.
