Mets 7 Cubs 2 Post Game Notes - 5/9/2025
Mets.com: Holmes continues smooth transition to starting with gem vs. Cubs. “It might have been Holmes’ best outing of the season, as he
pitched six innings and allowed one run on three hits and three walks. His only
blemish was a homer by Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker in the fourth inning. It was
the first homer allowed by Holmes this season, and it took 167 batters to
finally hit one out of the park. No one has faced more batters this season
without surrendering a home run.”
Brian Joura Mets360: “Francisco Lindor led off the game with
a solo homer. Later on, he’d be joined by Brett Baty, Jeff McNeil and Juan Soto
each going deep. In all, the Mets had 13 hits in the game. Lindor led the way
with three knocks, while Baty and Soto had two hits apiece. Each Mets starter
had a hit.”
Tim Healey Newsday: “Dedniel Nunez walked two and struck
out two. Across two relief appearances since returning to the majors, he has
walked five of seven batters . . . A.J. Minter said the surgery scheduled for
Monday to repair his left lat — torn off the bone — comes with a rehab process
of 10 to 12 months, so he might miss the beginning of the 2026 season. This is
the second year in a row that Minter’s season will end with an operation.”
