Mets get only 3 hits make two key errors.  Mark Vientos makes a error on Paul Goldschmidt's grounder, the Yanks leadoff batter in the 1st.  After 1 out, Aaron Judge hit a ground rule double and Cody Bellinger doubled in 2 runs giving the Bronx team a 2-0 lead.  Jeff McNeil singled in a run in the 2nd, and the Mets scored another in the 5th thanks to a Max Fried wild pitch.

Mets were lucky to have the game tied at 2 heading to the 8th despite allowing a lot of baserunners.  Anthony Volpe twice K'd with the bases loaded (to end the 5th and the 7th).

NY Post: Cody Bellinger, Yankees break open rout of Mets after brutal Pete Alonso error to take Subway Series. "Round 1 of maybe 30 Juan Soto Bowls over the next 15 years went to the home team largely because of three surprises: the most impressive at-bat of Jorbit Vivas’ career, Pete Alonso taking his slump to the field and a stunning, six-run bottom of the eighth."

Brian Joura Mets360: "With a runner on third base, a ball was hit to Pete Alonso, who tried to make the play at home. And we were reminded once again how poor of a thrower Alonso is, as his throw was nowhere near the plate. And that opened up the floodgates, capped by a grand slam give up to a lefty batter by lefty Genesis Cabrera."

NY Post: Heros, zeros of Subway Series clincher: Mets’ biggest stars fail miserably. Key Stat - 0-for-12: The top three batters in the Mets lineup —Francisco Lindor, Juan Soto and Pete Alonso — didn’t get a hit all night.
