Mets: 

• The Mets defeated the Dodgers, 3-1, in the series finale of their three-game set...Marked their 12th comeback win of the season...Improve to a 19-6 record at home this year, tied for their best start at home with the 2015 and 2021 teams...Their .760 winning percentage at home is the highest mark in the majors.
• Mets batters have been plunked 32 times this year which is the most in the National League.

Kodai Senga: 

• Recorded his fifth win of the season after allowing one earned run over 5.1 innings...Recorded 100+ pitches for the third consecutive game for the first time since August 25 - September 20, 2023 (five straight games)...Has recorded a 1.46 ERA (9 ER/55.2 IP) this season which is the third lowest through a starter's first 10 games of a season with the club...He trails only Jacob deGrom (0.56 ERA in 2021) and David Cone (1.38 ERA in 1988)...Courtesy of Elias.
• Gave up a lead-off home run to Shohei Ohtani in the first inning, snapping his career-high streak of eight games without allowing a homer...he had not given up a homer to his last 202 batters faced.

1964

In front of a meager crowd of 2,503 fans at Wrigley Field, the visiting Mets set a franchise record for runs scored when the team pummels the Cubs, 19-1. New York's 25 year-old first baseman Dick Smith, batting leadoff, becomes the first player in franchise history to collect five hits in a game, nearly 20% of season total of 21, when he collects a double, a triple, and three singles.

2011 - New York Mets owner Fred Wilpon sells a minority stake in the team to investor David Einhorn for $200 million. Wilpon's financial troubles, stemming from losses incurred in the Bernard Madoff fraudulent investment scheme, and from a $1 billion lawsuit from other victims of Madoff's fraud, have been much talked about in recent weeks; the sale should give him some financial breathing room.

2012: Mets P Johan Santana shows his old form, shutting out the Padres on 4 hits and fewer than 100 pitches. Scott Hairston hits a three-run homer in the 1st, soon followed by 32-year-old Vinny Rottino's first big league homer to stake Santana an early 4 - 0 lead. The Mets put the game away with 5 runs off Dale Thayer in the 8th, topped by a grand slam by Mike Nickeas.
