Mets

  • The Mets fell in their series finale 9-4, to the White Sox...The loss snapped their four game winning streak...Despite the loss, are 21-7 at home this season, which is tied with the 1986 team and the 2021 team for the best mark through the first 28 home games of a season in franchise history...Allowed a season-high nine runs and it was the first time they allowed nine or more runs since September 20, 2024 vs. Philadelphia (12 R)...Are now 10-2 in their last 12 games against the White Sox dating back to 2019.
  • Fell to 3-3 against the AL Central this season and 11-10 in all Interleague play.
  • Pete Alonso was hit by a pitch in the first inning, marking the sixth consecutive game the Mets have been hit by a pitch...It is the sixth time in franchise history that the Mets have been hit by a pitch in six or more consecutive games...They have been hit by 35 pitches this season which is the most in the majors this season...Alonso’s 91 HBP are the most in franchise history.

Griffin Canning: 

  • Gave up five runs, four hits, and walked four in 3.0 innings of work...His five runs are the most he’s allowed this season and the most since September 10, 2024 at Minnesota while with the Angels (10 R)...He walked four batters for a second game in a row, tying a season high...Was his shortest start this season besides when was removed following a rain delay on May 23.
  • Gave up two runs in the first inning for the first time this season...Had only allowed one total run in the first inning through his first 10 starts. 
  • In seven career starts at Citi Field he has 2-1 record and a 2.94 ERA (11 ER/33.2 IP).

Brandon Nimmo: 

  • Singled in the first inning...Has hits in three straight games after being held without a hit in the six games prior.

Mark Vientos: 

  • Launched a three-run home run to right field in the third inning to cut the Mets deficit to 5-3...Was his first home run since May 11 vs. Chicago-NL (40 at-bats).

Luis Torrens: 

  • Drew three walks in his first three plate appearances...Marked his first career game with three walks.

Brandon Waddell: 

  • Tossed 5.0 innings in relief, marking the longest outing of his career...His seven hits allowed and four earned runs were also the most he’s surrendered in his career.

Pete Alonso: 

  • Hit an RBI double in the ninth inning to score the Mets fourth run...His 17 doubles are the tied for the third-most in the majors and the second most in the NL.

José Azocar: 

  • Has been sent outright to Triple-A and elected free agency.

WHITE SOX NOTES:

Mike Vasil: 

  • Threw 3.0 scoreless innings in relief for the second straight time...Is the first White Sox since Antonio Osuna (9/10 - 9/13/02) to toss back-to-back scoreless relief outings of 3.0 or more innings...His scoreless outings of 3.0 or more innings are the most among Major League relief pitchers this season, while his eight relief appearances of 2.0 or more scoreless innings are tied for the Major League-lead with Hayden Birdsong.
  • Recorded a career-high five strikeouts...Is the fifth White Sox reliever to record five or more strikeouts in a game this season joining Jonathan Cannon (4/26 at ATH and 5/13 at CIN), Davis Martin (4/27 at ATH), Sean Burke (4/24 at ATH)) and Bryse Wilson (4/4 at Detroit)...The White Sox are the only team in the majors this season to have five different pitchers record five or more strikeouts in a relief appearance.

Miguel Castro: 

  • Left today’s game with right knee soreness and is being further evaluated.
