Here are the Brooklyn Cyclone Game Notes for today's game.

The Brooklyn Cyclones (42-20) wrap up their homestand against the Asheville Tourists (27-35) — the High-A affiliate of the Houston Astros — on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. from Maimonides Park on Coney Island in Brooklyn, N.Y.

 

LHP Sean Manaea (0-1, 6.23) will make his third Major League rehab start for the Cyclones. The Tourists are projected to counter with RHP José Guédez (3-4, 5.58).

 

The first 2,500 fans through the games will receive a Cyclones Corduroy Cap giveaway.

 

Live coverage on the Cyclones Radio Network, Bally Sports Live, and MiLB.tv will begin at 1:45 p.m.

 

LAST TIME OUT: Brooklyn collected its 7th shutout victory of the season with a 1-0 win vs. Asheville on Saturday night...RHP Brendan Girton picked up a no-decision, starting the night for the Cyclones with 5.0 perfect innings, striking out 6...RHP Joel Díaz earned the victory in relief, scattering 3 hits and striking out 3...RHP Raimon Gómez hurled a scoreless 9th to earn his 2nd save, ending the game by striking out CF Lucas Spence swinging with a 103.3 mph fastball...RF Carson Benge drove in the game's only run with an RBI single in the 6th...SS Jesús Báez garnered the game's only extra-base hit with a double in the 3rd.

 

THE NUMBER ONE SPOT: The Cyclones are mired in a 3-team race for the South Atlantic League First Half North Division crown...Entering play on Sunday, Brooklyn holds a 0.5-game lead on Greensboro for 1st place in the division...The Cyclones are 4.5 games up on 3rd-place Hudson Valley with 4 games remaining in the first half...Brooklyn's magic number to clinch the first half division crown is 4...Any Cyclones wins or Grasshoppers losses will decrease the number...Brooklyn does not play Hudson Valley or Greensboro for the remainder of the half...Greensboro has played one series (April 15-20 vs. Jersey Shore) against a North Division foe and will not play another until the second half (July 1-6 vs./at Aberdeen).

TIME TO MAKE THE DONUTS: Brooklyn's pitching staff collected its 7th shutout of the season with a 1-0 win vs. Asheville on Saturday...The 1-0 triumph was the Cyclones' 2nd since last Thursday, doing the same on June 5 at Wilmington...Entering Sunday, Brooklyn is tied for the South Atlantic League lead in shutouts with New York-AL's Hudson Valley...The 7 shutouts are tied for 2nd most at High-A and the 8th most in Minor League Baseball...Kansas City's High-A Quad Cities (9) leads the level, and Detroit's Double-A Erie (10) leads MiLB...Since last Thursday, the Cyclones' starting pitching staff has accrued a 1.75 ERA (7 ER in 36.0 IP), which is good for the 5th best in the minors...Brooklyn's single-season record for shutouts is 14, set in 2024.
