Here are the Brooklyn Cyclone Game Notes for today's game.

The Brooklyn Cyclones (37-15) continue a six-game road trip against the Wilmington Blue Rocks (21-31) — the High-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals — on Wednesday evening at 6:35 p.m. from Frawley Stadium in Wilmington, Del.

 

LHP Jonathan Santucci (3-4, 4.95), the New York Mets’ No. 12 prospect per MLB Pipeline, is scheduled to make the start for the Cyclones. The Blue Rocks are projected to counter with the RHP Travis Sthele (2-2, 5.18).

Gordon allowed 1 run on 6 hits in 3.2 innings for Brooklyn, taking a no-decision...RHP Brendan Girton permitted 2 runs over 4.1 frames, collecting his 3rd win.

 

THE NUMBER ONE SPOT: The Cyclones are mired in a 3-team race for the South Atlantic League First Half North Division crown...Entering play on Wednesday, Brooklyn holds a 1.5-game lead on Greensboro for 1st place in the division...The Cyclones are 5.5 games up on 3rd-place Hudson Valley with 14 games remaining in the first half...Brooklyn's magic number to clinch the first half division crown in 14...Any Cyclones wins or Grasshoppers losses will decrease the number...Brooklyn does not play Hudson Valley or Greensboro for the remainder of the half...Greensboro has played one series (April 15-20 vs. Jersey Shore) against a North Division foe and will not play another until the second half (July 1-6 vs./at Aberdeen).

CAN'T TUCC THIS: LHP Jonathan Santucci has found his form in 2025...The 2024 Mets' 2nd-round selection is a perfect 3-0 over his last 3 outings, including a 5.1 scoreless inning performance in relief to earn the win on Thursday vs. Aberdeen...Since May 16 vs. Winston-Salem, the 22-year-old has an 0.59 ERA (1 ER in 15.1 IP) with 6 hits allowed, 6 walks, and 17 strikeouts...Since that date, Santucci is tied for the South Atlantic League lead in wins (3), 2nd in batting average against (.115) and ERA (0.59), and 5th in WHIP (0.78).

 

MAGIC 8 BALL: Brooklyn erupted for a season-high 8 runs in the 3rd inning in Tuesday's 12-3 win at Wilmington...The Cyclones scored 8 runs on 8 hits and sent 12 batters to the plate...The 8-run frame was Brooklyn's biggest offensive outburst this year...The previous high had been 6 runs on 3 occasions, most recently on May 14 vs. Winston-Salem in the bottom of the 4th...The 8-run inning was the 'Clones largest frame since scoring 9 runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning in an 11-7 win vs. Wilmington on July 27, 2023...Brooklyn scored 9 runs on 6 hits in that inning, sending 12 to the dish...It was the Cyclones' biggest offensive inning on the road since tallying 10 runs in the top of the 6th in a 20-6 rout on May 27, 2022, at Bowling Green.
