Here are the Brooklyn Cyclone Game Notes for today's game.

The Brooklyn Cyclones (39-17) go for a series victory against the Wilmington Blue Rocks (23-33) — the High-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals — on Sunday afternoon at 1:05 p.m. from Frawley Stadium in Wilmington, Del.

 

RHP Brendan Girton (3-1, 3.38) is expected to make the start for the Cyclones. The Blue Rocks are projected to counter with the Nationals’ No. 16 prospect per MLB Pipeline, RHP Andry Lara (NR), who is making a minor league rehab start.

 

Live coverage on the Cyclones Radio Network, Bally Sports Live, and MiLB.tv will begin at 12:50 p.m.

 

LAST TIME OUT: Brooklyn earned at least a series split with a 6-3 win at Wilmington on Friday...The Cyclones erupted for 4 runs in the 4th inning, taking the lead for good on a 2-run single by RF Carson Benge...Benge finished the game with 2 hits, including a double, and 2 RBI...CF A.J. Ewing collected 3 knocks...LF Chris Suero drew a pair of walks and swiped two bags...RHP Joel Díaz earned his 2nd win, tossing 5.0 innings of 5-hit, 1-run ball...RHP Raimon Gómez collected a hold with a scoreless 7th inning of relief...RHP Saúl García recorded the final 3 outs for his South Atlantic League-leading 6th save...With the win, Brooklyn has not lost back-to-back games since April 20-22...They have not lost on consecutive days since April 10-12.

 

THE NUMBER ONE SPOT: The Cyclones are mired in a 3-team race for the South Atlantic League First Half North Division crown...Entering play on Sunday, Brooklyn holds a 2.0-game lead on Greensboro for 1st place in the division...The Cyclones are 4.5 games up on 3rd-place Hudson Valley with 10 games remaining in the first half...Brooklyn's magic number to clinch the first half division crown is 8...Any Cyclones wins or Grasshoppers losses will decrease the number...Brooklyn does not play Hudson Valley or Greensboro for the remainder of the half...Greensboro has played one series (April 15-20 vs. Jersey Shore) against a North Division foe and will not play another until the second half (July 1-6 vs./at Aberdeen).

ROSTER MOVES: The Cyclones made a pair of roster moves prior to Sunday's series finale...INF Jefrey De Los Santos was reinstated from the Temporarily Inactive List, and C Onix Vega was placed on the Development List.
