Box Score: Mets 5 Pirates 1 Brandon Nimmo CF 2 for 4, 1 RBI, 1 walk, 2 Ks;  Francisco Alvarez C 1 for 4, HR (12th), 1 RBI, 1 run scored; Jeff McNeil 2B 0 for 3; Francisco Lindor DH 0 for 4; Tommy Pham; 2 for 4, double, 2 runs scored, 1 K; Mark Canha 1B 2 for 4, 2 doubles, 3 RBIs, 1 K; Kodai Senga (W,6-3) 7 innings, 1 run - unearned, 2 hits, 4 walks, 6 Ks; David Robertson 1 inning, no runs, 1 hit, 2 Ks; Adam Ottavino 1 inning, no runs, no hits, 1 K;

NY Post: Kodai Senga delivers solid outing as Mets snap seven-game losing streak with win over Pirates. Senga fired a two-hitter over seven innings, allowing one unearned run. The right-hander struck out six and walked four, helping the Mets to exhale after Justin Verlander and Tylor Megill gave them short, ineffective performances Thursday and Friday....Mark Canha put the Mets ahead with a two-run double in the seventh inning and Francisco Alvarez’s homer in the eighth against Colin Holderman — the reliever the Mets traded to the Pirates last summer for Daniel Vogelbach — extended the lead to 4-1.

Buck Showalter’s closed-door meeting pays off as Mets snap seven-game skid. "After the Mets lost for a seventh straight game on Friday, Showalter held a closed-door meeting, during which he stated the obvious: the team needed to play better. According to a person who was in the room, players were urged to 'dig down deep' and find 'another level of competitiveness.'”

Brian Joura Mets360.comMark Canha and Brandon Nimmo each had two hits and drove in three runs, as the Mets snapped a two-game losing streak with a 7-3 win over the Angels Friday night in Anaheim. It was the 15th loss in the last 16 games for the Angels.

Metstradamus: The Ones Who Return And The Ones Who Never Left"They’re getting a lot of guys back soon and the Mets will need every single one of them. MeGill only went 3 and 1/3, giving up five hits including a two run HR to Brandon Marsh in the second, but struck out four and only walked one. It was a fine first step for Megill. As for Alonso, he was 1-for-5 with a bloop hit...But Friday’s 7-3 win over the Angels was powered by the top of the lineup..."

NY Post: Brandon Nimmo’s three-RBI night propels Mets past Angels. He also walked during a second inning in which the Mets scored three runs to set the early tone.
