Mets get swept by the Phillies.
Game 1 took 12 innings as the Mets waste a Tom Seaver gem. Seaver goes 8.1 innings. With the Mets leading 3-2 in the 9th, Tom Seaver is taken out after a one out walk and single. Bob Apodaca allowed a single and is quickly removed for Rick Baldwin who strikes out Tony Taylor but walks Ollie Brown to tie it up. A Greg Luzinski homer in the top of the 12th off Tom Hall won it for the Phils.
In Game two, Jerry Koosman had a rough time as he allowed 7 runs in the first two innings. Down 8-1, Mets mounted a comeback with 5 in the 5th highlighted by a Del Unser double and a Rusty Staub Triple. Mets did not score the rest of the way, losing 9-6.

Mets head into the 9th tied 1-1 with Tom Seaver (W,12-5) on the mound. Willie Stargell singled in Richie Hebner to give the Bucs a 2-1 lead. Then, in the bottom of the 9th, Ken Singleton and Art Shamsky led off with singles. Dave Marshall singled in the tying run. After Ken Boswell was hit by a pitch to load the bases and Cleon Jones hit into a force out at home, Donn Clendenon's Sac Fly brought home Dave Marshall with the Walk-Off winner.
