Laura Albanese Newsday: Pete Alonso's two home runs, Griffin
Canning's six shutout innings help Mets cruise past Dodgers. “Canning used five different pitches,
including a slider that bottomed out at 86.8-mph and a fastball that topped at
96.6-mph, to limit a potent lineup to no runs on three hits with a walk and
seven strikeouts over six innings.”
NY Post: "After hitting a two-run blast in the first inning, Alonso delivered the knockout punch with a three-run shot in the eighth, allowing the Mets a measure of comfort after two straight nights needing a 10th inning to decide the outcome."
NY Post: Mets get good news on Mark Vientos’ hamstring injury with Sean Manaea to start rehab assignment. “The Mets received “relatively good news” about the third baseman on Wednesday, according to manager Carlos Mendoza, with an MRI exam revealing the hamstring injury Vientos sustained two days earlier was a low-grade strain. Mendoza added that Vientos will be treated for 10-14 days until he is symptom free before he begins building up for a return…Sean Manaea will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Friday, when he is scheduled to throw 35 pitches for Single-A Brooklyn.”
