Here are the Brooklyn Cyclone Game Notes for today's game.

The Brooklyn Cyclones (12-12, 58-32) continue a nine-game road trip and open a six-game series against the Greensboro Grasshoppers (17-7, 62-27) — the High-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates — on Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m. from First National Bank Field in Greensboro, N.C.

 

RHP Noah Hall (5-4, 2.41) is expected to make the start for the Cyclones. The Grasshoppers are projected to counter with the Pirates’ No. 20 prospect per MLB Pipeline, RHP Carlson Reed (0-2, 5.54)

LAST TIME OUT: The Cyclones snapped a season-high-tying 3-game losing streak with a convincing 13-3 win at Hub City on Sunday afternoon...The contest included an hour and 53-minute rain and lightning delay with 2 on and 2 out in the top of the 5th inning...Brooklyn scored 1 in the 1st and 4 in the 4th, 5th, and 7th innings...All 9 Cyclones in the starting lineup tallied at least 1 hit, and 7 of 9 registered at least 1 RBI...1B Ronald Hernandez finished with 3 hits and 3 runs scored, including a 3-run triple in the 5th...3B Boston Baro registered a multi-hit game with RBI singles in the 1st and 7th...RF Troy Schreffler Jr. added 2 hits, including a 3-run home run in the 4th...DH Corey Collins, LF A.J. Ewing, and CF Eli Serrano III all reached base 3 times...Brooklyn went 7-for-14 with runners in scoring position...RHP Frank Elissalt tossed 2.0 scoreless innings, allowing a hit, and striking out 3 in his Cyclones debut, earning the win...RHP Josh Blum finished the contest with 2.2 frames of spotless relief.

 

HALL PASS: After being limited to just 13.0 innings in his first professional season in 2024, RHP Noah Hall has found a new gear in 2025...The 24-year-old tossed a career high 7.0 innings of shutout ball on July 12 vs. Wilmington, allowing just 2 hits while walking only 1...Hall became the first Cyclone starter to complete 7.0 innings since RHP Jordany Ventura (7.1) on August 2, 2023, at Jersey Shore...Additionally, Hall registered his first pro save on June 5 at Wilmington, tossing 4.0 innings of 1-hit shutout ball...The save was Hall's first since April 30, 2021, vs. the University of Louisiana at Monroe, while pitching for Appalachian State University...Entering play on Tuesday, the Charlotte, N.C. native is tied for 2nd in the South Atlantic League in double plays induced (8), 3rd in ERA (2.41), 5th in batting average against (.203), and tied for 9th in strikeouts (82) and innings pitched (78.1).

 

ROCKIN' RONALD: Ronald Hernandez had a marvelous start to the post-All-Star Break portion of the schedule this past weekend at Hub City...The 21-year-old tallied 3 hits on Sunday, including a 3-run triple in the 5th, adding 3 runs scored...Hernandez enters Tuesday riding a 4-game hitting streak in which he is 6-for-14 with 5 runs scored, a triple, and 3 RBI...He has also reached in 5-straight games since July 12, going 6-for-16 at the dish...Hernandez has authored 3 of Brooklyn's 6 walk-off winners this year, including a pair of walk-off home runs...The Caracas, Venezuela, native is the first player in Cyclones history to club multiple walk-off blasts. 

 

MY DEAR WATSON: RHP Will Watson has been superb for the Cyclones since making his High-A debut on June 6...The 22-year-old tossed 4.2 innings of shutout ball in a no-decision on Saturday...He holds a 0-2 record, but a 2.29 ERA (9 ER in 35.1 IP) with 28 hits allowed, 13 walks, and 41 strikeouts in 8 appearances (7 starts)...Since making his debut, Watson is tied for 3rd in the South Atlantic League in strikeouts (41), 5th in ERA (2.29), and 9th in innings pitched (35.1)...His 28.5% strikeout rate is the 3rd-best in the circuit.

 

GIRT 'ER DONE: RHP Brendan Girton continues to be a force in the Brooklyn rotation in 2025...The 23-year-old tied a career-high with 9 strikeouts over 4.2 no-hit innings last Friday at Hub City...It marked the 2nd time this season Girton had thrown 4.2 or more innings of no-hit ball... He tossed 5.0 perfect innings in June 14's 1-0 win vs. Asheville and was named South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Week for Week 12 (June 10-15)...The Gage, Okla. native was the first Cyclone pitcher to receive a weekly honor this year and the first to win Pitcher of the Week since LHP Felipe De La Cruz took home the award for May 20-26, 2024...Girton is the first Cyclones' right-hander to earn the honor since RHP Luis Moreno won for July 25-31, 2022...Girton did not receive a decision on June 14, but retired all 15 batters he faced, striking out 6...He, RHP Joel Díaz (3.0 IP), and RHP Raimon Gómez (1.0) combined on a 4-hit shutout...Among SAL pitchers with 50.0 or more innings of work since May 1, Girton leads the circuit in ERA (2.04), WHIP (0.91), batting average against (.160), and strikeout rate (32.5%) and is tied for 4th in strikeouts (67)...Among SAL arms with 65.0 or more frames for the season, the Gage, Okla. native paces the league in strikeout rate (31.2%) and is 3rd in batting average against (.189), 5th in ERA (2.41), 6th in WHIP (1.09), and tied for 9th in strikeouts (82).
