The Brooklyn Cyclones (8-5, 53-25) continue their home-and-home series against the Hudson Valley Renegades (7-6, 45-32) — the High-A affiliate of the New York Yankees — on Saturday evening at 6 p.m. from Maimonides Park on Coney Island in Brooklyn, N.Y.

 

LHP Jonathan Santucci (5-4, 3.79), the New York Mets’ No. 11 prospect per MLB Pipeline, is expected to make the start for the Cyclones. The Renegades are projected to counter with the Yankees’ No. 6 farmhand per MLB Pipeline, RHP Elmer Rodríguez-Cruz (5-4, 2.47).

LAST TIME OUT: Brooklyn snapped a season-high-tying 3-game losing streak with a 7-4 win vs. Hudson Valley on Friday night...Playing as the Coney Island Franks, LF Chris Suero clubbed a 2-run home run in the 1st inning and 3B Jesús Báez added a solo shot in the 3rd...Báez tallied a pair of hits...2B Colin Houck collected his 1st 3-hit game as a Cyclone, falling a home run shy of the cycle...He reached on an infield single in the 2nd, an RBI double in the 3rd, and powered a triple in the 6th...RHP R.J. Gordon was charged with a career-high 4 earned runs, but struck out 5 over 5.1 innings for his 5th win...RHP Ben Simon (1.0 IP, 2 H), LHP Ryan Ammons (1.2, 0), and RHP Chandler Marsh (1.0, 0) combined for 3.2 innings of 2-hit shutout relief to close out the win...Marsh collected his 2nd High-A save.

 

CYCLONE SHUFFLE: Brooklyn made a series of roster moves prior to Saturday's contest...RHP Dakota Hawkins was transferred to Triple-A Syracuse, and RHP Eduardo Herrera was transferred to Double-A Binghamton...In a corresponding move, the Cyclones have added RHP Josh Blum from Single-A St. Lucie...The 22-year-old collected a 5-0 record in the Florida State League with a 4.31 ERA (15 ER in 31.1 IP) and 3 saves in 20 relief appearances...He struck out 32 and walked 13...Blum was the New York Mets' 16th-round selection in 2024 out of the University of Southern California, where he was a teammate of Cyclones RHP Will Watson and former Cyclones OF Rhylan Thomas (2023) and INF D’Andre Smith (2023-25).

 

CAN'T TUCC THIS: LHP Jonathan Santucci has found his form in 2025...The 2024 Mets' 2nd-round selection is a perfect 5-0 over his last 8 outings (6 starts), including a career-high 8 strikeouts last Saturday night against Jersey Shore...Since May 16 vs. Winston-Salem, the 22-year-old has a 5-0 record with a 1.55 ERA (7 ER in 40.2 IP) with 25 hits allowed, 12 walks, and 45 strikeouts...Santucci saw his scoreless inning streak come to an end at 18.0 frames in May 10's win vs. Asheville...The southpaw's streak spanned from the 2nd inning in Game 1 of a doubleheader on May 23 at Jersey Shore until the top of the 7th with two outs on May 10...Since May 16, Santucci leads the South Atlantic League in ERA (1.55) and is tied for the league lead in wins (5)...He is also 2nd in batting average against (.171) and WHIP (0.91), tied for 7th in strikeouts (45), and 9th in innings pitched (40.2).
