With their 1st selection in the 2025 MLB Draft, the Mets have taken 2B Mitch Voit. Age 20, DOB: 9/30/2004; 6'0", 201 pounds.  

With the 38th pitch of the Draft, the Mets have taken Mitch Voit from the University of Michigan.  

A two-way player his first two seasons, Mitch injured his elbow in April 2024 and had internal brace surgery in July 2024.  Thus he moved to 2B as a full-time hitter.

New York Mets Press Release: "Voit, who recently completed his junior season at the University of Michigan, started all 56 games at second base and hit .346/.471/.668. He led the Wolverines in home runs (14), walks (40), steals (14), SLG (.668) and OPS (1.139). He spent three seasons with the Wolverines, batting .303/.398/.564 with 127 runs, 46 doubles, seven triples, 35 homers, 128 RBI and 19 steals in 169 games. The native of Milwaukee, WI, Voit was named the Wisconsin Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year in 2022."

From MLB.com: "Now that he's a full-time hitter, Voit has significantly improved his approach, making better swing decisions and barreling balls more regularly...His power plays from the left-field line to right-center and could produce 15-20 homers per season...Voit's plus speed makes him a basestealing threat and gives him range at second base. 

Baseball America: "Michigan second baseman Mitch Voit was one of the bigger risers on our final draft board update and is also drawing plenty of interest in the first three rounds. I typically hear him associated with more analytically-inclined teams. He’s coming off a career year where he hit .346/.471/.668 with 14 home runs, 17 doubles and a career-best 13% strikeout rate. Voit is a solid athlete who has big arm strength when fully healthy and could play a number of defensive positions in pro ball."  

Voit was ranked #63 on the MLB Pipeline Draft List, #159 on Baseball America's list.
