From the Mets 7 Rockies 3 Post Game Notes - 7/13/2024

Christian Scott:

Has struck out at least five batters for the third time this season, first time since May 11 vs. Atlanta.

Jeff McNeil:

Lined a two-run double in the right center gap in the second to extend the Mets lead 4-0.

Francisco Lindor:

Blasted a home run to center field in the eighth inning increasing the Mets lead to 7-3...Was Lindor’s 94th home run as Met, which moves him into a tie for 20th all time with John Milner.

Brian Joura Mets360: "The Mets jumped out to a 4-0 lead, the Rockies rallied for three against the starter and in a nice twist, the bullpen gave 4.2 scoreless innings and the Mets emerged with a 7-3 win Saturday afternoon at Citi Field. It was the Mets’ fifth-straight win and pushed the Mets to four games over .500, tying their high-water mark of the year that they reached on April 20 when they were 12-8."

NY Post: Mets keep rolling with another win over Rockies as streak reaches five. "Butto and Dedniel Nunez, two pitchers who weren’t in the bullpen plans to start the season, continued to provide a lift for a beleaguered and injury-riddled bullpen."

Tim Healey Newsday: Francisco Lindor homers, Jose Butto is Mets' bullpen savior again in win over Rockies. "Butto’s numbers since the Mets called him up and stuck him in a relief role — a desperation-induced transaction — early this month: 7 2⁄3 innings, 0.00 ERA, 0.65 WHIP. He has struck out eight and walked three."

Year: 2022; Game#89; Wednesday  Jul 13 NYM 7 @ ;ATL; 3; boxscore;  WP: Bassitt; LP: Morton; Time: 3:05; DAY; Attendance: 34,879;  Record: 55-34; Standings: 1; Games up/behind: up 2.5; W;

Brian Joura Mets360: "The Mets belted three homers to build a 7-1 lead and cruised to a 7-3 win over the Braves Wednesday afternoon in Atlanta, winning the three-game series."

Greg Prince Faith and Fear in Flushing: "Eduardo Escobar made like a groundhog and saw his power stroke’s shadow in the second. Francisco Lindor drove in runs the way the most productive RBI shortstop in the majors should (three-run shot). Mark Canha made like an orange and blue green giant and opened his own Canha taters. The power trio, accounting for the five runs that amply supported Bassitt, dined out on what Morton served up and nobody here protested. Later came Luis [Guilorme] doubling home a sixth run and Lindor scoring on a balk, all of it in service to the eventual 7-3 victory."

Chris Bassett (W,7-6) allows just 1 run over 6 innings for the win.
