NY Post: Mets can’t secure White Sox sweep in JoseQuintana’s debut. “Quintana, in his Mets debut following rib surgery that had kept him sidelined since spring training, allowed two earned runs on six hits with three strikeouts, and departed after 77 pitches…The White Sox took control against Drew Smith in the sixth inning by scoring four runs, only one of which was earned, on three hits, an error and a walk.”

Tim Healey Newsday: For at least a night, the Mets ran out of magic. The Reds’ Wade Miley held them to two runs in 6 1/3 innings. Pete Alonso homered, but Cincinnati countered with long balls from Jonathan India in the first, then Joey Votto and Aristides Aquino back-to-back in the third inning. The Mets (49-43) stranded the potential tying run on second base in the seventh and eighth innings and on first base in the ninth inning. 


Mets.com: Stat of Day: Pete elite through 300 games. Pete Alonso hit his 88th career homer in his 300th career game on Tuesday, giving him the second most in AL/NL history through the first 300 games of a career. Ryan Howard holds the record with 91 homers through his first 300 games.

Smith finished 3-for-5 with four RBIs.”
