Tommy Pham (2-3, 2B, RBI, 3 R, 2 BB, SB): Put the Mets on the board with an RBI double in the first...Reached four times, matching a season-high for the fifth time.

 

Francisco Alvarez (2-3, 2 HR, 4 RBI, 2 R, 2 BB): Launched a two-run blast to left in the first and a two-run homer to left center in the sixth, his 18th and 19th of the year...Alvarez now leads all major league catchers in home runs...Joins Darryl Strawberry (four) and Ed Kranepool (three) as the only Mets with three or more multi-home games before turning 22.


DJ Stewart (1-4, HR, RBI, R): Blasted a solo homer to right in the fourth inning, his first as a Met and his first in the majors since September 7, 2021 against Kansas City while with the Orioles.  


Brett Baty (1-5, HR, RBI, R): Belted a solo shot to center in the first, going back-to-back with Francisco Alvarez...Was the fourth time the Mets have hit back-to-back homers this season...Was the second time in franchise history rookies hit back-to-back home runs...Mike Jacobs and Victor Diaz hit back-to-back home runs in the second inning on October 2, 2005 vs. Colorado...Courtesy of Elias.

NY Post: Colon gets lit up by Cardinals as Mets keepstumbling. "In his second-worst start of the season, Colon allowed seven earned runs on eight hits with three walks and a hit batter over 4 ¹/₃ innings. The Cardinals turned the game into a runaway in the fifth, when Randal Grichuk hit a two-run homer against reliever Carlos Torres that made it 8-0. Grichuk’s three-run blast in the eighth against Alex Torres completed the scoring. Jason Heyward also had a huge night, with a 5-for-5 performance for the Cardinals.”

Braves sweep a double header from the Mets by scoring 5 in each game.  Mets only managed 1 run on Chuck Hiller's homer against Tony Cloninger (W,11-8) in the first who went the distance.  Eddie Matthews with a pair of Game 1 homers for the Braves.  Mets came out swinging in Game 2 with 3 runs in the first on Charley Smith's RBI single and Bobby Klaus' 2-run double.  Braves came right back and tied it with 3 in the 2nd and added 2 more in the 3rd on a 2-run homer by Gene Oliver.  Tug McGraw pitched scoreless innings in relief to give the Mets a chance but Dick Kelley retired the last 13 Mets in a row to lock down the Braves win.
