Mets 3 Angels 2 Post Game Notes - 7/22/2025

Brian Joura Mets360: "Francisco Alvarez clubbed a two-run homer as part of a three-run fifth inning and the Mets got another strong outing from the pen, leading to a 3-2 win over the Angels Tuesday night at Citi Field. The Mets are now 20-13 in one-run games and 36-16 in home starts."

Newsday: Brett Baty, Francisco Alvarez and Ronny Mauricio — hitting seventh, eighth and ninth, respectively — came through with clutch two-out hits in a three-run fifth in which the Mets took the lead and never looked back en route to a 3-2 win in front an announced sell-out crowd of 43,055 at Citi Field.

NY Post: "The uprising would hold because the Mets bullpen survived. Garcia — who had been DFA’d by the Mets on July 11, signed with the Yankees July 14, pitched with the Yankees on Friday, was DFA’d by the Yankees on Saturday and was reclaimed by the Mets on Monday — recorded three large outs, including a strikeout of Trout."

NY Daily News: "Tuesday’s performance came in support of Mets starter Frankie Montas, who worked around eight hits and two walks to limit the Angels to two runs in 5.2 innings. Montas was dinged by Jorge Soler’s solo homer in the second inning and Nolan Schanuel’s RBI double in the fifth. But Montas prevented further damage in that fifth inning by striking Mike Trout out with two runners in scoring position, then getting Jo Adell to fly out to center with the bases loaded."
