Buffalo, NY – The Syracuse Mets cruised past the Buffalo Bisons, 8-3, on Wednesday afternoon at Sahlen Field. The Mets have now won eight of their last nine games.

After being shutout last night, the Syracuse (53-51, 22-7) offense woke up in the top of the second inning. With two outs, Luis De Los Santos singled, Omar De Los Santos walked, and Gilberto Celestino ripped an RBI single to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.

In the top of the third inning, the Syracuse offense stayed hot. Pablo Reyes doubled, and Luke Ritter singled, putting runners on the corners. Drew Gilbert grounded out to third but scored Reyes and put the Mets ahead 2-0. With Ritter at second, Hayden Senger blasted a two-run homer, giving Syracuse a 4-0 lead. Next, Luis De Los Santos walked, and Omar De Los Santos launched another two-run homer, extending the advantage to 6-0.

Buffalo (40-60, 10-17) cut into the Mets' lead in the bottom of the fourth inning on a solo home run by Orelvis Martinez, making it 6-1.

In the fifth, the Bisons added another run on an RBI double by Michael Stefanic, cutting the deficit to 6-2.

Syracuse got an insurance run back in the seventh when Reyes and Gilbert drew walks, and a double-steal with a throwing error by the catcher Phil Clarke brought Reyes in to score and give the Mets a 7-2 lead.

The Mets scored one more run in the eighth inning after Celestino singled, stole second, and scored on a fielding error by first baseman Riley Tirotta, stretching the lead to 8-2.

In the bottom of the eighth, the Bisons tacked on one last run with a solo homer by Jonatan Clase, making it 8-3.

On the mound, Nolan McLean pitched six innings, allowed three hits, two runs, and struck out six batters. Out of the bullpen, Austin Warren pitched one and one-third innings and gave up a solo homer, Ty Adcock recorded two outs, and Junior Fernandez shut the door in the ninth, striking out a pair.

Syracuse continues its six-game series with Buffalo on Thursday night with game three. Right-hander Brandon Sproat is scheduled to pitch for the Mets against lefty Adam Macko for the Bisons. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
