Here are the Brooklyn Cyclone Game Notes for today's game.

The Brooklyn Cyclones (18-​27, 64-47) continue a six-game homestand against the Hub City Spartanburgers (23-22, 54-56) — the High-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers — on Friday evening at 6:40 p.m. from Maimonides Park on Coney Island in Brooklyn, N.Y.

 

RHP Dakota Hawkins (2-2, 2.48) is expected to make the start for the Cyclones. The Spartanburgers are projected to counter with RHP D.J. McCarty (1-5, 5.17).


The first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a Neon Pete Alonso He Did It! Bobblehead. Following the final out, there will be Postgame Fireworks.


Live coverage on the Cyclones Radio Network, Bally Sports Live, and MiLB.tv will begin at 6:25 p.m.


LAST TIME OUT: The Cyclones and Spartanburgers split Thursday's doubleheader following Wednesday's rainout...Hub City captured the first game, 5-2, before Brooklyn salvaged the back half of the twinbill, 6-3...In Game 1, Hub City utilized a 4-run top of the 5th inning to hop out to a commanding 5-1 lead...Only 1 of the 5 runs surrendered by LHP Franklin Gómez was earned, as Brooklyn committed 2 key errors in that inning...The Cyclones were just 2-for-9 with runners in scoring position, while Hub City RF John Taylor whacked a couple of doubles and scored 1 of the 5 Spartanburger runs...Brooklyn plated one in the home 7th and brought the tying run to the plate, but didn't scratch across anything further...Game 2 proved to be a seesaw affair, as SS Marco Vargas clubbed a walk-off 3-run home run to left-center field, good for his first High-A long ball of the season...Brooklyn broke a 3-3 tie with a 2-out rally in the 7th...DH Onix Vega tripled and C Vincent Perozo worked an 11-pitch walk, setting the table for the Vargas home run...The Brooklyn bullpen combined on 3.2 frames of 1-run ball, as LHP Ryan Ammons collected his 7th win of the season and his 3rd in 3 appearances.


THIS DATE IN CYCLONES HISTORY: On August 15, 2002, 1B Brett Harper goes 5-for-5 at Aberdeen to tie the franchise mark for hits in a game...In 2017, the original "Voice of the Cyclones", Warner Fusselle, is posthumously inducted into the New York Penn League Hall of Fame prior to the All-Star Game in Troy, NY.
