The Brooklyn Cyclones (22-32, 68-52) return for their final six-game homestand of the regular season against the Hudson Valley Renegades (34-19, 72-45) — the High-A affiliate of the New York Yankees — on Tuesday evening at 6:40 p.m. from Maimonides Park on Coney Island in Brooklyn, N.Y.
LHP Franklin Gómez (0-2, 1.96) is expected to make the start for the Cyclones. The Renegades are projected to counter with RHP Brandon Decker (1-1, 4.32).

FRANKLIN MINT: LHP Franklin Gómez has had a breakout 2025 season...The 20-year-old struck out 7 over a season-high-tying 5.0 innings, taking a no-decision on Wednesday at Aberdeen...In his last 8 appearances (5 starts) since July 5 between Brooklyn and Single-A St. Lucie, Gómez is 1-2 with a 1.03 ERA (4 ER in 35.0 IP), 25 hits allowed, 14 walks, and 34 strikeouts...Dating back to June 3, the southpaw is 3-2 with a 1.24 ERA (7 ER in 50.2 IP), 33 hits surrendered, 19 walks, and 51 K's...Gómez's 1.24 ERA is the second best in the Mets' farm system since that date, trailing only Triple-A Syracuse's RHP Jonah Tong (0.90) (min. 50.0 IP)...His 1.88 ERA (14 ER in 67.0 IP) is also second best in the organization for the season (min. 60.0 IP) behind Tong (1.43).
NEW KIDS ON THE BOARDWALK: Brooklyn added a pair of new names to the roster on Monday, adding OF John Bay and RHP Irving Cota from Single-A St. Lucie...Bay signed with the New York Mets as an undrafted free agent out of Austin Peay State University (Clarksville, Tenn.) on July 23 and tore up the Florida State League after making his professional debut...Bay hit .333/.464/.593/1.057 in 17 games with 7 extra-base hits, 3 home runs, and 19 RBI...From his debut until his promotion, Bay was 2nd in the FSL in OPS (1.057), tied for 2nd in RBI (19), 3rd in slugging percentage (.593), 4th in on-base percentage (.464), tied for 4th in runs scored (18) and batting average (.333), and tied for 6th in home runs (3)...Cota made 23 appearances (11 starts) between St. Lucie and Double-A Binghamton before joining Brooklyn...The 21-year-old has posted a 6-6 record with a 4.12 ERA (41 ER in 89.2 IP), 19 walks, and 77 strikeouts...Among FSL pitchers (min. 80.0 IP), Cota was 5th in the circuit in double plays induced (9), 6th in WHIP (1.24), 7th in innings pitched (84.2), and 9th in ERA (4.36)...C Onix Vega also rejoined the team from Triple-A Syracuse after going 0-for-4 in 1 game.
CHANGING TIDES: The New York Mets released OF Troy Schreffler Jr. from the Cyclones roster on Monday in addition to sending RHP Will Watson to Double-A Binghamton...On Tuesday, Brooklyn placed LHPs Ryan Ammons and Eli Ankeney on the 7-day injured list...Schreffler Jr. hit .215/.276/.329/.605 with 3 home runs and 19 RBI in 52 games with Brooklyn...The 24-year-old ranked 6th in the South Atlantic League (min. 65 PA) in OPS (.844), 7th in slugging percentage (.456), and 9th in on-base percentage (.388) since the All-Star break...Watson thrived with the Cyclones, accumulating a 1-3 record with a 1.70 ERA (12 ER in 63.2 IP) and 77 strikeouts in 14 appearances (13 starts)...Dating from his June 6 debut until his promotion, the Bow, Wash. native paced the SAL in strikeouts (77) and is tied for 1st in games started (13), 2nd in ERA (1.70), 3rd in batting average against (.199), 6th in innings pitched (63.2), and 7th in WHIP (1.15)...Ammons posted a 7-2 mark with a 2.92 ERA (12 ER in 37.0 IP), 1 save, and 53 K's in 33 relief outings with Brooklyn in 2025...He leads the SAL in holds (11) and is tied for 2nd in wins (7)...Ankeney appeared in 3 games with the Cyclones, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits in 4.0 innings, striking out 6.
IF THERE'S A WILL-HOITE, THERE'S A WAY: INF Trace Willhoite has had no trouble adapting to life at the High-A level...Since making his debut last Tuesday vs. Hub City, the 24-year-old is 9-for-28 (.321) at the plate with 2 doubles, 2 home runs, and 6 RBI...Willhoite has thrived in August, slashing .305/.419/.441/.860 in 19 games between Single-A St. Lucie and Brooklyn, adding 2 doubles, 2 home runs, and 12 RBI...Despite not signing with the Mets until March, the Georgetown, Ky. native is 2nd in the organization in RBI (72), tied for 2nd in home runs (16), 3rd in hit-by-pitches (12), 3rd in OPS (.866), 4th in on-base percentage (.383) and slugging percentage (.483), 6th in runs scored (64), tied for 7th in total bases (154), 8th in batting average (.270), and tied for 9th in extra-base hits (33).
