Here are the Brooklyn Cyclone Game Notes for today's game.

The Brooklyn Cyclones (25-​34, 71-54) conclude their final six-game homestand of the regular season against the Hudson Valley Renegades (36-22, 74-48) — the High-A affiliate of the New York Yankees — on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. from Maimonides Park on Coney Island in Brooklyn, N.Y.

 

RHP Jose Guevara (NR) is expected to make the start for the Cyclones in his High-A debut. The Renegades are projected to counter with the Yankees No. 19 prospect per MLB Pipeline, RHP Cade Smith (0-1, 4.15).


The first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a Cyclones Baseball Card Giveaway, and all Kids Run The Bases Postgame.

Live coverage on the Cyclones Radio Network, Bally Sports Live, and MiLB.tv will begin at 1:45 p.m.


LAST TIME OUT: The Cyclones surged back into the win column with a 5-4 win over the Renegades on Saturday night...The win marked No. 71 overall on the season, a new single-season franchise record...Brooklyn can capture a series victory with a win on Sunday...2B Marco Vargas put together a multi-hit, multi-RBI night...On the mound, 5 Brooklyn arms combined to strike out 15 Hudson Valley batters en route to the win...4 of those 5 arms logged at least 3 strikeouts, even though none threw more than 2.0 innings... RHP Brett Banks collected his second High-A save of the year, collecting the final 6 outs while striking out 5 batters.


THIS DATE IN CYCLONES HISTORY: On August 31, 2004, C Jesús Flores became the second Cyclone to hit a home run in his first at-bat with the club...The 2-run shot came in his only at-bat of the game...In 2008, Jordan Abruzzo hit home runs from both sides of the plate in a game against Hudson Valley, becoming the first player in franchise history to accomplish the feat...In the 4th inning, the switch-hitting catcher hit a home run from the left side of the plate and then connected on a second home run in the 8th inning, this time from the right-hand side of the plate...In 2010, in the second game of a doubleheader against Vermont, Jeff Flagg hit a 3-run homer as the Cyclones walked off in the 7th inning for a 6-4 victory...In 2018, Giovanni D'Onza became the first Cyclones athletic trainer to be ejected in team history while arguing with home plate umpire Dylan Bradley during a mid-inning break against Hudson Valley at then-MCU Park.
