  • Defeated the Marlins, 19-9, in the second game of their four-game series at Citi Field…Their 19 runs tonight were tied for their most in a game this season (also: 4/28 at WAS)...Were their most ever in a home game breaking the previous high of 17 set on July 2006 vs. Florida and September 25, 2016 vs. Philadelphia…Tonight marked the seventh game in franchise history with 19 or more runs and the first time the Mets have accomplished the feat twice in the same season…The Mets’ 19 runs were tied for the second-most scored in a pitcher’s Major League debut since 1900 (last: 8/12/08 Charlie Zink BOS)...Courtesy of Sarah Langs.
  • Jonah Tong and Nolan McLean became the fourth pair of Mets teammates to earn the win in their Major League debut in the same season…They other pairs are Roger McDowell and Rick Aguilera (1985), Bobby Jones and Kenny Greer (1993) and Robert Gsellman and Gabriel Ynoa (2016)...Tong and McLean are the only pair of Mets starting pitchers in franchise history to earn the win in their Major League debut in the same season.
  • Have hit six or more home runs in a game five times this season…The 2025 Mets join the 2019 Minnesota Twins and the 2000 Houston Astros as the only teams in Major League history to have five games with six or more home runs in the same season.

Jonah Tong (5.0 IP, 6 H, 4 R, ER, 6 K, 2 WP): 

  • Allowed four runs, one earned over 5.0 innings in his Major League debut…Joined Jim McAndrew, Tyler Yates, Nino Espinosa and Jon Matlack as the only pitchers in franchise history to throw 5.0 or more innings and issue zero walks in their Major League debut…Tong’s six strikeouts were the most among the group.
  • At 22 years and 71 days, Tong became the youngest Mets pitcher to start a game since Jenrry Mejia (20 Y, 339 D) on September 14, 2010 and the youngest Mets pitcher to debut as a starter since Jon Niese (21 Y, 311 D) on September 2, 2008…Is the third-youngest pitcher to make their Major League debut this season (youngest: Didier Fuentes and Chase Petty).
  • Tong became the fifth-youngest Mets starter to earn the win in their Major League debut and the youngest since Julio Valera who earned the win in his Major League debut on September 1, 1990 at 21 years and 323 days...Joins Dwight Gooden as the only Mets pitchers age 22 or younger to throw at least 5.0 innings and allow one or zero earned runs in the Major League debut.
  • Became the eighth Canadian-born to pitch in a game for the Mets and the third this season (also: Jared Young and Zach Pop)...Became the third Canadian-born Met ever to start for the Mets (also: Ken MacKenzie and Ray Daviault in 1962).

Francisco Lindor (1-3, 2B, 2 RBI, R, BB, SB): 

  • Plated two with a double in the second…Has hit safely in 16 of his last 17 games and has a .438/.500/.685 (32-73) slashline with six doubles, four home runs, 11 RBI, 17 runs and seven stolen bases.
  • Picked up his 25th stolen base of the season in the first…Is his fourth career season with 25+ stolen bases and has reached the mark in each of his last three seasons…Is the sixth player in franchise history with three or more seasons of 25+ stolen bases…The others are José Reyes (6), Darryl Strawberry (5), Howard Johnson (4), Mookie Wilson (4) and Lenny Dykstra...Joins Pete Crow-Armstrong and José Ramírez as the only players in the majors this season with 25 home runs, 25 doubles and 25 stolen bases.

Juan Soto (2-3, HR, 2 RBI, 2 R, BB): 

  • Put the Mets on the board with a two-run homer in the first…Was his fifth home run of the season in the first inning…Three of those big flies have come after the All-Star Break (also: 7/18 vs. CIN and 8/8 at MIL)...Has reached base safely in each of his last 12 plate appearances with RISP (7 H, 5 BB).
  • Drew a walk in the fifth…Has recorded at least one home run and one walk in 114 games…Is tied with Jimmie Foxx for the second-most such games in Major League history prior to turning 27…Only Mickey Mantle (115) had more such games prior to turning 27…His 109 walks this season are the most in the majors and second-most in a single season by a Met (most: John Olerud, 125 in 1999).
