NY Post: Mets shut out by Mariners for second straight game in another lifeless loss. "On Saturday, they managed only four hits, barely showing life in getting shut out for a second straight night in a 4-0 loss at T-Mobile Park." 

Brain Joura Mets360: "Sean Manaea, who had been so good in his past two starts, struggled mightily with his location in this one. In the first inning, it was pitches that caught too much plate, as the Mariners ripped three doubles and scored three runs." 

Tim Healey Newsday: Mets' scoreless streak extended to 19 innings in loss to Seattle. "But it’s mid-August now, seemingly all of a sudden. The Mets are in the thick of a playoff chase...They are picking a bad time to have a bad time...Atlanta ended a six-game losing streak earlier Saturday, so the Mets (61-56) fell to a half-game back of the last NL wild-card spot, leapfrogged by their division rival. San Diego and Arizona have gotten hot and have put several games of cushion between them and the rest of the pack. San Francisco and St. Louis remain relevant, too, right behind the Mets."

NY Post: Mets rally past Nationals for skid-snapping win.  “Brandon Drury continued to come through in the clutch as a pinch hitter, blooping a single past a drawn-in infield in the eighth inning to score Jonathan Villar to put the Mets ahead — capturing their first lead since last Wednesday against the Marlins.”

For the second night in a row, the Mets come from behind late against the Nationals.  This time, they didn't wait until the 9th.  Luis Guillorme homered to lead off the 8th to tie the game at 3 (the first homer of his career).  4 batters later, J.D. Davis' Sac Fly brought home Joe Panik with the go ahead run.  Seth Lugo (W,5-2) set the Nationals down 1-2-3 in the 9th for the win.

NY Post: Mets profit from a worrying reminder about innings limits. "With Rockies phenom Jon Gray cruising through six innings in his second major league start, having allowed just a Travis d’Arnaud home run, Colorado manager Walt Weiss pulled the impressive right-hander, who was on a strict innings limit, despite just 75 pitches." 

ESPN: "The Mets loaded the bases against Justin Miller (L,1-1) in the seventh after Gray, the No. 3 overall draft pick in 2013, was pulled...Miller gave up a single to d'Arnaud, walked Michael Conforto and then Ruben Tejada as well with two outs. Boone Logan entered and hit Curtis Granderson with a full-count pitch to tie it. Murphy then grounded a single past diving shortstop Jose Reyes, the former Mets star recently acquired in the trade that sent Troy Tulowitzki to Toronto, for a 4-2 lead."
