Brian Joura Mets360: "Pete Alonso hit a huge home run milestone, tying Darryl Strawberry’s all-time Mets record of 252, in the second inning. However, his home run was quickly just a blip on the radar, with the Mets offensive struggles spilling over into the field on some defensive gaffes, coupled with a poor pitching performance by everyone (except the opener Reed Garrett). "

NY Post: Francisco Lindor throws dugout tantrum after costlyerror in Mets’ loss. “…the Mets shortstop was charged with a fielding error that led to the Brewers scoring two unearned runs in the second inning. Lindor returned to the dugout after the final out and slammed his glove in disgust."

Newsday: "The Mets’ souped-up bullpen blew a one-run lead in the Brewers’ four-run seventh inning, with the go-ahead run scoring on a misplay by third baseman Ronny Mauricio (a single that should have been scored an error on Mauricio, who replaced Mark Vientos for defense in the sixth).

NY Daily News: "Juan Soto’s go-ahead shot in the 5th..[making it 4-3 at the time]...The 26-year-old’s 28th shot of the season marked his third straight game with a homer. Starling Marte also tallied a solo blast in the third inning, his sixth of the season."

Mike Puma NY Post: Bullpen collapses in Mets’ sixth straight loss, spoiling night Pete Alonso hits record-tying homer. “A hellish seventh inning that included Ryan Helsley’s pitch-clock violation that negated the final out before William Contreras blasted a homer sent the Mets to the bottom of Lake Michigan in a 7-4 loss to the Brewers at American Family Field. The Mets lost their sixth straight and have dropped 10 of 11 games overall.”

Daily News: Bill Madden: Trying to make sense of Mets,Yankees collapse. Bill talks about the problem with the Mets starting pitching and how their approach this past off-season saying: “I also thought Stearns was deliberately staying away from long-term contracts for starting pitchers because he knew in Brandon Sproat, Nolan McLean and Jonah Tong he had three outstanding starting pitching prospects on the cusp of the big leagues. Except after Montas failed miserably, pitching himself out of the rotation, Stearns’ refusal to bring up any of the kids has been downright puzzling.”
