Abbey Mastracco NY Daily News: Pete Alonso becomes Mets HRking as Amazins’ go deep 6 times in 13-5 win over Braves. “Whatever happened before Tuesday night mattered little, and what happens from here is a story for another night. The story Tuesday night at Citi Field was all about Pete Alonso helping the Mets halt their losing streak at seven games with his 253rd and 254th home runs, passing Darryl Strawberry to become the franchise’s new home run leader.”

Brian Joura Mets360: The Mets hit six home runs, scored 13 runs with two outs and had Brandon Nimmo snap a 20-AB hitless streak and Francisco Lindor come up with a hit after making 21 outs. But all anyone will remember is that Pete Alonso set the all-time franchise record for homers. It was a great night all the way around, one that resulted in a 13-5 win over the Braves Tuesday night at Citi Field.

NY Post: "Alonso’s two home runs — the first of which was No. 253 in his career and moved him ahead of Darryl Strawberry on the franchise’s all-time list — led a 13-5 demolition of the Braves that snapped a seven-game Mets losing streak, which matched their longest since 2018."

NY Post: Clay Holmes looks gassed after another poor outingfor Mets. “Another poor outing by Holmes threatened to ruin Pete Alonso’s big night, as Holmes failed to get out of the fourth for a no-decision in a 13-5 Mets win over Atlanta. After Alonso hit his franchise record 253rd homer, Holmes gave back a 5-1 lead by coughing up four runs in the fourth, with the bottom of the order doing much of the damage.”

Newsday: "Francisco Alvarez went 3-for-4 with two homers and four RBIs. Brandon Nimmo, Starling Marte, Cedric Mullins and Brett Baty each had two hits. Justin Hagenman pitched a hitless final four innings for his first career save."

The backstop's 3-for-5 performance, including a home run in the third inning, RBI single in the fourth, and a two-run single in the seventh, contributes to the Mets' 9-2 victory over the Giants.
