Brian Joura Mets360: "For the fifth time this season, Clay Holmes turned in a 5 IP, 1 ER performance, which given how he had pitched recently was a sight for sore eyes. And along with solid starting pitching, the Mets’ offense came thru with 14 hits, leading to a 7-3 win over the Mariners in Williamsport, PA. Sunday night."

NY Post: "They got an offensive outburst against Seattle’s George Kirby and a solid start from Clay Holmes, with the victory capped by Mark Vientos’ three-run, opposite-field homer in the fifth...Losers of 14 of 17 heading into the game, the Mets remained 1 1/2 games ahead of Cincinnati for the third and final NL wild-card spot."

NY Daily News: "The Mariners attempted to rally, sparked by a two-run blast from Cal Raleigh (his league-leading 47th of the year) off Reed Garrett in the 7th to trim the deficit to four, but they’d get no closer."

Newsday: "Francisco Alvarez, who left the game after the seventh with a right thumb injury, went 3-for-4 and Lindor was 3-for-5. Mark Vientos went 2-for-3 with four RBIs, including a three-run homer in the fifth that gave the Mets a 6-1 lead."

NY Post: "Alvarez was removed prior to the eighth inning after injuring his right thumb on a headfirst slide into second in the bottom of the seventh. He’ll return to New York and get an MRI on the thumb Monday, manager Carlos Mendoza said."
