Mets jump out to a 2-0 lead in the 2nd on a Mark Vientos homer but only manage 2 singles until the 9th when a comeback rally falls short.  Braves score 2 against David Peterson to tie it in the 6th, 2 more against Gregory Soto for the lead in the 8th and hold on to win 4-3 after a Mets rally in the 9th.

Newsday: Mets fail to pull off sweep in Atlanta. "The first two games of this series against Atlanta were marked by strong defense, ample offensive production and a mercurial bullpen. Only one of those things remained consistent Sunday afternoon, and it wasn’t the first two. The Mets’ bats cooled off and Gregory Soto allowed the go-ahead runs in the eighth as Atlanta came back to avoid being swept, beating the Mets, 4-3, at Truist Park."

Mike Puma NY Post: "Mark Vientos continues his Mets resurgence with homer in third straight at-bat: ‘Locked in’."A day after going deep in his final two at-bats, Vientos homered in his first plate appearance Sunday to further resemble the player who helped carry the Mets lineup last season. He’s hit five homers in his past seven games."

Gus Livaditis Mets360: "...in the sixth inning after Peterson had walked Pablo Ozuna with one out and gave up a single to Michael Harris. Visibly laboring and having just come off a long outing his previous time up, Jeremy Hefner came out to tell him to bare down. It worked, as Peterson got the second out but then he walked Nacho Alvarez on five pitches to loaded up the bases. With Brooks Raley ready in the bullpen, Mendoza didn’t budge and Sean Murphy dropped a single into right center tying the game."

Abbey Mastracco NY Daily News: Braves come back to edge Mets, 4-3, and deny series sweep. "Left-hander Gregory Soto (1-4) couldn’t finish off the bottom of the eighth. With one on and two out, he walked Sean Murphy and plunked pinch-hitter Vidal Brujan to load the bases for Jurickson Profar. Profar sent a single up the middle to score two. The Mets lost 4-3, finishing a six-game road trip 3-3."

NY Post: Mets blow two-run lead as offense sputters to miss out on sweep of Braves. "Juan Soto’s RBI single in the ninth — the Mets’ third hit of the inning — reclaimed a run, but Pete Alonso and Jeff McNeil were retired in succession with the tying and go-ahead runs on base."

Mike Vaccaro NY Post Sports+: Infuriating Mets trend starting to add up — and a reckoning could be coming. "What is infuriating — in addition to inexcusable — is beating yourself. And doing it time after time." (Subscription Required"

NY Post: Brandon Sproat pitching out of bullpen as Mets keep options open for potential call-up. "The Mets are keeping all options open for a top pitching prospect as they evaluate how he might fit on the major league roster this season. To that end, Brandon Sproat pitched Sunday behind an opener for Triple-A Syracuse, giving the right-hander experience entering a game from the bullpen. Sproat had previously worked this season exclusively as a starter."

Brandon Sproat threw 3.2 innings yesterday - 7 runs; 5 ERs; 7 hits; 2 walks; 4 Ks;
