Newsday: Manaea spotted the Guardians five runs in the sixth inning, which he could not complete after recording two outs. The Mets’ lineup picked him up in a massive way, tying the score in the eighth, but things went awry in the 10th inning of a 7-6 loss in front of 37,866 at Citi Field.

Brian Joura Mets360: "After falling behind 5-0, Pete Alonso got the Mets back into the game when he belted a 3-run homer in the sixth inning, bringing him within one homer of tying Darryl Strawberry for the franchise lead."

AP Sports: "Alonso had his fourth hit, an RBI single, in the eighth, before Mark Vientos delivered the game-tying sacrifice fly. Cade Smith (4-4) escaped a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the ninth. Automatic runner Daniel Schneemann scored the tie-breaking run in the 10th, when third baseman Brett Baty threw the ball wide of second on David Fry’s bunt against Ryan Helsley (3-2). Arias added a sacrifice fly."

NY Post: Brett Baty’s brutal error wastes Mets’ rally in extra-inning loss to Guardians. "In the 10th inning with Ryan Helsley on the mound, the Mets intentionally walked José Ramírez before David Fry bunted toward third base. Baty fielded and opted to try for the out at second — and a well-executed play would have gotten the out. But Baty’s throw, to the first-base side, deflected off Francisco Lindor’s glove and into the outfield to score the go-ahead run. Two batters later, Gabriel Arias lifted a deep sacrifice fly to right for the run that decided the game."
