Mets are now 18-27 since June 13th.
  • Pete Alonso: Put the Mets on the board with a sacrifice fly in the first inning...He has 10 RBI over his last five games and his 91 RBI this season are the second-most in the majors.
  • Tyrone Taylor: Plated one with a single to left field in the second to increase the Mets' lead to 2-0...The hit snapped a 0-19 skid and it marked his first RBI at home since June 26 vs. Atlanta.
  • Brooks Raley (1.0 IP, K): Tossed a scoreless eighth inning and hasn’t allowed a run through his first eight appearances this season (6.2 IP)...Dating back to September 22, 2023, each of his last 19 outings have been scoreless.
Brian Joura Mets360: "The Mets can’t catch a break. When their SP finally doesn’t put them in a hole, the offense takes the night off and the other team wins because of sequencing. The Guardians had just six hits and one walk but they bunched all seven of those baserunners into two innings and wound up with three runs, enough for a 3-2 victory over the Mets Tuesday night. The Mets are now 1-7 in their last eight games and fell to 2.5 games out of first place in the NL East."

Newsday: "The Mets were held to four hits by five Guardians pitchers and didn’t have a hit in the final five innings. They fell 2 1⁄2 games behind the Phillies in the NL East. The Mets have lost three in a row; the Phillies have won three in a row."

NY Post: "...a potent offense, which finished with just four hits and went silent, is not following the blueprint and especially struggling against lefties. They managed two runs against Cleveland southpaw Logan Allen in the first two innings — and even the successes came with a dose of frustration. [In the 2nd] the Mets then loaded the bases with one out for Lindor, who smoked a ground ball up the middle that was unfortunately aimed, going for a double play."

Anthony Reiber Newsday: "After going a season-low 3 2⁄3 innings in his last outing, Holmes pitched five innings on Tuesday and allowed two runs. He left after 75 pitches with the score tied at 2.  Holmes, a converted reliever, has thrown a career-high 122 1⁄3 innings. His previous career high was 70 innings in 69 relief appearances for Pittsburgh and the Yankees in 2021."

NY Daily News: "Tyler Rogers — one of the marquee relievers the Mets acquired before last week’s trade deadline — surrendered three hits in the seventh inning, including a two-out, go-ahead RBI single to Steven Kwan that proved to be the game-winner."
