Mets:
- The Mets defeated the Phillies, 6-0, to complete their three-game sweep of the club…It’s the team’s first sweep since July 25-27 at San Francisco and their first at Citi Field since July 21-23 vs. Los Angeles-AL…Marks the first time the team has shut out Philadelphia since May 30, 2023…Have won five of their last six games and eight of their last 11 after going 2-14 in their previous 16 contests (from 7/28-8/15)...The Mets are 7-2 on the year vs. Philadelphia, taking the season series for the first time since 2022…Including the 2024 NLDS, the Amazins’ have recorded a franchise-high-tying 10 straight victories in Queens (also: June 20, 1984 - August 13, 1985).
- Mets batters recorded double-digit hits for the 12th time over their last 16 games…In 23 games this month, the Mets are batting .281/.358/.491…They rank first in the majors over the month in slugging and OPS (.849), are second in batting average, OBP, home runs and runs scored.
- The Mets improve to 44-24 at home this season and 15-6-1 in home series…Their record is tied for the seventh-best home start at home in franchise history…Over their last nine home games, including August 17's game in Williamsport, PA, the Mets are batting .341/.401/.549 with 15 home runs, 21 doubles and 66 RBI.
- Have stolen 110 bases this season and their 88.7 success rate is the highest in the majors…Marks the most stolen bases through the team’s first 133 games of a season since 2011 (113 SB).
Mark Vientos (2-4, HR, 3 RBI, R):
- Extended his hitting streak to 10 games with an RBI single in the fifth…He also recorded a two-run homer in the seventh…Six of his 13 home runs this season have come over his hitting streak (since August 17) and he has posted a .395/.442/1.416 slashline in that span…Also has 17 RBI over the streak which is his most among any 10-game span of his career…He has recorded an RBI in a career-high six straight games, which is the longest such streak by a Met since Pete Alonso’s eight straight games from September 13-20, 2022.
- Brett Baty (2-4, 2B, R): Doubled in the third…Has been on base in four of six plate appearances this series…Has a .351/.422/.596 (18-53) slashline with four home runs, two doubles, seven RBI, 16 runs and seven walks over his last 18 games dating back to August 2.
- Has a .412/.474/.686 (21-51) slashline with four home runs, two doubles, seven RBI and 15 runs over his last 20 games at Citi Field…In 59 games at Citi Field this season, has a .933 OPS with 11 home runs, five doubles, one triple, 28 RBI and 31 runs.
Nolan McLean (8.0 IP, 4 H, 6 K):
- Earned his third win in as many career games after tossing 8.0 scoreless innings…He is the first player in franchise history to record a win in each of his first three career games…He threw a career-high 95 pitches, 71 for strikes…His 39 pitches through the first 4.0 innings were the least by a Mets starter this season…Courtesy of SNY…Faced the minimum 20 batters through 6.2 innings, including retiring 15 straight hitters…He allowed just four baserunners to 27 total batters…He’s the first Met to record an 8.0+ IP start in his first three career starts since Jon Niese in 2008 and joins David Peterson (5x) as the only Mets pitchers to throw into the eighth inning this season…Became the first pitcher since Brian Johnson in 2017 to have an outing of 8.0+ scoreless innings and zero walks in his first three career games and the first Met to do so since Jason Jacome (9.0 IP/0 BB on 7/7/94)…He joins Jacome, Eric Hillman (8/17/92) and Dennis Ribant (8/17/64) as the only franchise pitchers to do so.
- In three career starts, he has gone 3-0 with a 0.89 ERA (2 ER/20.1 IP) and 21 strikeouts…His 21 strikeouts are the second-most by a Mets pitcher in franchise history through three career starts (most: Matt Harvey - 23 K)...His 11.0 scoreless inning streak is the longest by a Mets rookie since Jose Butto (11.2 IP from 5/14-7/22/24)...Courtesy of Elias…He has been scoreless in all but one inning in his career thus far…He is the first pitcher to allow two earned runs or less in their first three career starts while pitching at least 20.0 innings since Cody Anderson in 2015 (2 ER/23.2 IP).
- Since the mound was moved back in 1968, he is one of eight pitchers to record at least 20 strikeouts and two or fewer earned runs in their first three career starts, joining Tanner Houck (2020), Fernando Romero (2018), Eduardo RodrÃguez (2015), Félix Hernández (2005), Vicente Padilla (2002), Fernando Valenzuela (1981) and Wayne Simpson (1970).
- He’s the first Major League pitcher to record two 7.0+ IP games in his first three career games since Sixto Sánchez in 2020…He is one of eight Mets pitchers to have multiple 7.0 IP games in three career games and the first since Dillon Gee (2010)...They join Gary Gentry (3 - 1969), Bill Graham (1967), Tom Seaver (1967), Walt Terrell (1982) , Jason Isringhausen (1995) and Bill Pulsipher (1995).
- His 20.1 IP are the most through a player’s first three career games since Andrew Moore and Ben Lively both recorded 21.0 IP through as many games in 2017…McLean’s the first Met to throw as many innings in three career games since Pulsipher (21.0 IP - 1995) and Isringhausen (20.2 IP - 1995).
