Buffalo, NY - The Syracuse Mets won another series thanks to a 5-4 victory on Saturday night at Sahlen Field. The Mets have now won 11 of their last 12 games and have won six straight series to begin the second half of the season. Plus, the win propels Syracuse to sole possession of first place in the International League second half standings.

Syracuse (56-51, 25-7) jumped on the board first in the top of the first inning. With one out, a pitch hit Luke Ritter. Two batters later, Pablo Reyes singled with two outs, putting runners at first and third base. Joey Meneses followed with a single to right field, scoring Ritter for a 1-0 Syracuse lead.

The Mets extended the advantage in the third. With two outs, Jared Young homered to center field to make it a 2-0 game. Young has now homered in back-to-back games.

Buffalo (40-63, 10-20) responded in the bottom of the fourth. RJ Schreck singled, and Buddy Kennedy walked to begin the frame. Yohendrick Pinango followed with a single that scored Schreck to trim the Syracuse lead to one, 2-1. After a fly out and a strikeout, Damiano Palmegiani came to the plate with two outs and doubled home Kennedy, tying the game up, 2-2.

The Mets regained the lead in the sixth with a few powerful swings. First, Young singled, moved to second base on a Pablo Reyes sacrifice bunt, and Young advanced to third on a Meneses groundout. Then, with two outs, Hayden Senger launched a go-ahead, two-run home run over the left-field wall to give the Mets a 4-2 edge. Luis De Los Santos followed with a home run of his own to left field for a 5-2 Syracuse advantage.

The Bisons stormed back in the eighth. With Jonathan Pintaro on the mound for the Mets, Schreck walked, Kennedy singled, and Pinango brought both runners home with a double to slash Syracuse's lead to one, 5-4. Pintaro proceeded to retire the next three batters he faced to keep the Mets in front.

In the bottom of the ninth, Pintaro induced a pair of groundouts to start the inning but walked Michael Stefanik to put the tying run on base and bring the winning run to the plate. Pintaro got Schreck to fly out to left field to end the game and give Syracuse the win.

Before Pintaro, Paul Blackburn got the start for the Mets and allowed two runs in five and one-third innings pitched in his Major League rehab start. Then, Huascar Brazobán retired all five batters he faced out of the bullpen.

The Mets and Bisons conclude their six-game series on Sunday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m.
